AI security training is becoming a higher organizational priority, but current evidence does not establish the size or growth rate of a global training market. A 2026 survey of enterprise security leaders in six countries found that 47% said AI was the most pressing skill their organization was addressing or planning to address through training. That measures reported priority—not course sales, enrollment, or global training revenue.

What the current evidence says about AI security training growth

The clearest evidence is a shift in what organizations say they need to teach. In ISC2’s 2026 survey of 995 security leaders involved in training decisions at enterprise organizations in Canada, Germany, India, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S., 47% said AI was the most pressing skill their organization was addressing or planning to address through training. This is a six-country survey, not a global census or a measure of training-market revenue. ISC2’s survey findings indicate organizational attention, rather than the number of people trained.

Budget responses offer another indicator: 73% of those respondents said their organization’s security training budget had increased over the preceding 12 months. That figure covers security training budgets generally; it does not say how much of the increase went to AI security instruction.

Keep the three growth measures separate

Several figures point to increased activity around AI security, but they measure different things and should not be combined into a single growth rate.

Measure What the source reports What it does—and does not—show
Enterprise training priority 47% of 995 surveyed enterprise security leaders in six countries said AI was their organization’s most pressing training skill; 73% said the organization’s security training budget rose over the prior 12 months. ISC2, 2026. Survey responses about priorities and budgets; not global participation totals or AI-training revenue.
Specialist-provider workforce in the U.K. The U.K. Department for Science, Innovation and Technology estimated 417 cybersecurity full-time-equivalent roles at 32 specialist cyber-security-for-AI providers, up 51% from 277 in its prior study. The department’s 2026 sector analysis cautions that broader provider totals cannot be attributed specifically to AI security activity. A U.K.-specific estimate of provider employment, not a count of people receiving training. It cannot be generalized to the worldwide training workforce.
Spending on AI security products and platforms Gartner forecast $2.835 billion in 2026 and $4.783 billion in 2027 for the market for securing AI products and platforms. Its categories include AI application security, AI usage control, AI governance platforms, AI gateways and other securing-AI offerings. Gartner’s 2026 forecast is for security products and platforms. A forecast for securing-AI solutions, not for courses, certification, or training services.

The figures support a measured conclusion: organizations are reporting stronger demand for AI-related skills, and specialist activity is visible in U.K. provider employment. They do not establish a quantified global AI security training market.

Why organizations are adding AI security skills to training plans

Technology changes are one reported trigger. In the same ISC2 survey, 54% of respondents said their organizations determine skills needs based on adoption of new technologies or systems. AI security instruction can therefore be part of a broader effort to keep security knowledge aligned with changing technology, rather than a standalone training budget line.

Scheduling is a practical constraint: 53% cited time and scheduling as the primary barrier to effective security training. These findings describe what surveyed leaders reported; they do not demonstrate that training by itself improves security outcomes.

A separate workforce perspective comes from the SANS Institute’s 2026 Cybersecurity Workforce Research Report, based on 947 global respondents across six regions. It recommends that cybersecurity leaders “develop an AI governance program and provide baseline AI security training for all employees.” That is a recommendation about workforce preparation, not evidence of enrollment growth or training revenue. SANS’s 2026 workforce report frames AI security as a broader organizational capability.

What training providers are offering

Short, on-demand courses

ISC2’s July 2026 announcement described AI Express Courses as short, on-demand learning. It listed a price of $40 per course, or $32 for ISC2 members, and one CPE credit per course. One course uses scenarios to teach alignment among AI security frameworks, regulations, and contractual obligations. Prices and availability can change; consult ISC2’s course announcement for current details.

A certification still in development

On July 15, 2026, ISC2 said it had begun developing an AI security certification and invited practitioners worldwide to help define the knowledge and skills it should validate. The announcement describes a credential in development, not an available certification. ISC2’s announcement provides the development status.

AI concepts in existing certification exams

In April 2026, ISC2 said its exam guidance mapped AI concepts across more than 50 core cybersecurity exam domains. That indicates AI topics are being incorporated into existing certification content; it is not the same as launching a dedicated AI security certification. ISC2’s exam guidance describes the mapping.

What the evidence does not establish

  • A global revenue total or growth rate for AI security courses, training providers, or certification.
  • The number of employees worldwide who have completed AI security training, or how that number has changed over time.
  • How much of the reported rise in general security-training budgets is allocated specifically to AI security.
  • That training alone causes better security outcomes.

Those gaps matter because a survey of priorities, an employment estimate, and a forecast for security software are different kinds of evidence. Gartner’s product-market forecast may reflect the expanding need to secure AI systems, but it cannot be presented as training-market growth.
