What is Mortgage Innovation & Technology Live?

The organiser describes it as a practical event for brokers, lenders, networks, technology providers and other industry innovators, focused on business change, compliance, technology adoption and growth.

The official event overview advertises more than 150 delegates, 30 speakers, 12 advisory board members, nine sessions and five CPD hours. These are organiser-published figures describing the event, not independent measures of technology adoption or impact across the mortgage market. See the official MIT Live event page.

Why AI and open finance matter to mortgage firms

AI in advice and operations

The reported agenda themes point to practical questions about where AI might assist mortgage advice and business operations, and what safeguards its use requires. Mortgage Strategy has named Mortgage Lab as the event’s official AI Knowledge Partner. The publisher’s report says the partner will test tools against mortgage use cases and explain risks and opportunities; that announcement is not evidence that a particular tool has passed independent testing.

Mortgage Strategy Commercial Director James Prosser said: “AI is one of the biggest subjects facing mortgage businesses but the industry needs more than predictions and rhetoric. It needs somewhere people can ask difficult questions, see tools tested properly and understand the risks as well as the opportunities.” The publisher’s report on the partnership was published on 11 August 2026.

Open finance and smart data

In the reported themes, open finance and smart data relate to sharing information across a connected mortgage journey and to lending and affordability. For firms evaluating such approaches, useful questions include what data is shared, how customers authorise its use, how it is protected, whether it integrates with existing broker and lender systems, and whether it improves decisions or customer experience. The available event information does not establish adoption rates or measured outcomes.

Fraud detection and deepfakes

The reported themes also include AI’s potential role in identifying mortgage fraud and deepfakes. That makes both effectiveness and safeguards important: firms would need to consider how detection works, how personal information is handled, and how false alerts or missed signs affect customers and advisers. No independently attributable figure for mortgage fraud prevalence or AI detection accuracy is established by the cited event information.

The official awards results identify organisations recognised in those categories; they do not establish that every named firm will attend MIT Live, speak at it or have products independently tested there.

What to look for as the programme is published

Once the official agenda is available, mortgage professionals can assess the technology discussions against practical criteria rather than headline claims:

  • Problem addressed: Is the proposed use about workflow efficiency, access to customer-authorised data, protection processes or fraud detection?
  • Evidence: Are results measurable and tied to a defined use case, rather than presented as general promises?
  • Privacy, security and compliance: What controls govern data access, retention and model use?
  • Integration: Can the approach work with existing broker, lender and protection systems?
  • Customer and adviser impact: Does it improve clarity and service, or add friction, bias or avoidable errors?

These are evaluation questions, not claims that a specific MIT Live session or supplier has already demonstrated particular results.
