The Security Pill interview with cybersecurity analyst Rahul Singh Choudhary explores how AI could assist cryptanalysis and offensive security—but its promotion is not evidence that deployed encryption has been broken. Choudhary’s related account describes work on a research parameter and a reduced-round AES variant, while explicitly distinguishing those results from breaking full AES-128 or production-grade post-quantum cryptography.

What the Security Pill episode is about

The episode, titled “AI Just Broke Crypto. What’s Next?”, is listed as Security Pill Season 2, episode 3, with Ashish Khaitan as host. The Cyber Express promotion frames the conversation around AI-assisted cryptographic analysis, vulnerability research, penetration testing, exploit development, and the possibility of more autonomous offensive security work. The promotion raises questions rather than documenting the guest’s complete answers: whether AI is becoming a research partner as well as a tool, whether it could find vulnerabilities before attackers do, and how close security teams are to AI-powered penetration testing and exploit development. The available episode material does not establish Choudhary’s detailed recommendations or conclusions on those questions.

What “AI broke crypto” means in the reported examples

In a related LinkedIn post, Choudhary says Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview recovered a private key for the HAWK-256 research parameter and found an optimization for an attack on seven-round AES-128. He distinguishes those claims from breaking full AES-128 or production-grade post-quantum cryptography. These are Choudhary’s descriptions of the work; the post is not itself the underlying technical paper, and the claims should not be treated as independently verified here. Choudhary’s LinkedIn post

Yubico - Security Key C NFC - Basic Compatibility - Multi-Factor authentication (MFA) Security Key and passkey, Connect via USB-C or NFC, FIDO Certified
  • POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
  • WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.
  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
  • TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
  • BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.

The distinction matters. A result involving a research parameter or a reduced-round variant is not equivalent to demonstrating a practical break of the full, deployed algorithm. The interview’s headline and promotional framing should therefore be read as a prompt to discuss AI and cryptanalysis, not as proof that current encryption systems have been compromised.

AI assistance is not the same as autonomous offensive security

The promotion points to a useful distinction: an AI system can help a human researcher analyze a problem, while a more autonomous system would carry out a broader sequence of security tasks with less direct human involvement. Vulnerability discovery, penetration testing, and early exploit development are named as discussion topics, but the available material does not show where Choudhary draws the practical boundary between assistance and autonomous operation.

  • POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The YubiKey 5C NFC is the most versatile physical passkey, protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts
  • WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with popular accounts like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single YubiKey 5C NFC secures 100+ of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more
  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5C NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
  • MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
  • PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts

Nor does the promotion establish that AI can reliably identify every important weakness, prioritize vulnerabilities for an organization, or operate safely without oversight. It raises the question of human judgment; it does not provide enough of the full conversation to attribute a specific oversight framework or recommendation to the guest.

What security teams can take from the coverage

Choudhary’s broader view, as expressed in his post, is that AI may increasingly assist vulnerability research and cryptographic analysis, and that security professionals will need to learn to work with AI systems. That is his outlook, not a measured forecast. The interview’s advertised themes make AI-assisted research and human judgment relevant areas for security teams to follow, but they do not supply a tested operational playbook or a basis for claims about specific enterprise attack surfaces.

For readers assessing claims about AI and encryption, the practical questions are narrower: What exact cryptographic target was examined? Was it a full production algorithm or a research parameter or reduced-round variant? Does the claim come from an underlying technical report, or from a summary? The examples attributed to Choudhary illustrate why those details matter before drawing conclusions about real-world systems.
