Equip Intelligence heroes with Intelligence-class gear, but choose pieces and spend upgrade materials according to each hero’s role, faction match, actual stats, and use in your team. There is no single best Intelligence build for every hero. For upgrades, first compare the benefit to that hero with the cost and any resonance effects; the latest located update, 1.198, added Mythic T5 and changed upgrade materials.
What gear can Intelligence heroes use?
AFK Arena divides equipment into Strength, Agility, and Intelligence classes. Intelligence-class gear occupies four slots: hand, head, body, and feet. A hero’s class tells you which equipment to consider; it does not tell you which attributes that hero needs or how much investment they deserve.

Older item lists can help explain the class system, but they are not a complete current catalogue. For example, the BlueStacks guide describes tiers only through Mythic Tier 3, so check the items and stat lines shown in your game rather than treating that list as current for every tier. BlueStacks’ AFK Arena gear guide is useful for basic terminology, not a definitive 2026 inventory.
How to choose gear for a specific Intelligence hero
Compare each candidate item against the hero and the job you need them to do. Faction-matched gear can provide an increased bonus, but class and faction alone do not establish which item is best. Heroes fill different roles, and their value can vary by team and game mode. The gear guide describes faction matching, while BlueStacks’ hero roles guide illustrates that heroes have distinct roles.

- Confirm class and slot. The piece must be Intelligence gear and fit the slot you intend to fill.
- Check faction alignment. If the item offers a faction bonus, see whether it matches the hero.
- Read the actual attribute line. Decide whether the hero needs more damage, survival, or a support-oriented stat profile in this team and mode.
- Check tier and special attributes. Note the item’s tier and whether it has a hero-exclusive bonus.
- Review its upgrade state. Check enhancement, resonance status, and the material cost before committing resources.
When comparing two pieces, weigh all five factors together. A faction match or higher tier is not automatically decisive if the alternative better supports the hero’s role, or if resonance changes which benefits apply.
How Gear Resonance affects Intelligence gear
The Gear Resonance feature is in the Library. The AFK.Guide Gear Resonance overview says resonance raises eligible lower-Combat-Rating gear to the account’s resonance tier. Its published rules distinguish between resonance tiers:

- Mythic T2 or below: the guide says resonating low gear receives faction bonuses but not enhancements.
- Mythic T3 or above: the guide says resonating low gear receives neither faction bonuses nor enhancements. Original gear that has reached Mythic T3 retains its hero-exclusive bonus attributes.
- While gear is resonating: it cannot be enhanced, upgraded, or reset.
These details come from a guide that predates the later T4 and T5 resonance additions. Check the live Library interface for the rules that apply to your current resonance tier and item before investing.
What changed in update 1.198?
The AFK Global Team’s Update 1.198 Patch Notes, posted July 13, 2026, say the patch was released July 14, 2026. The notes state: “Added a new tier of gear: Mythic T5 gear.” They also list these gear changes:

This is the latest located update for these gear changes, not a guarantee that no later patch altered them. Check subsequent in-game patch notes and the current upgrade screen before spending materials.
Which gear should you upgrade first?
There is no supported universal priority order for all Intelligence heroes. An older AFK.Guide page discusses T2 and T3 upgrade priorities, but recommendations depend on the account and are not a current blanket rule. AFK.Guide’s gear upgrade priority page can provide historical context; use the item and material costs shown in your game for today’s decision.

As a practical decision, invest where an upgrade improves a hero you actively rely on, while accounting for the materials you would give up elsewhere. Compare a carry and other core heroes by role and team use rather than assuming every Intelligence hero deserves equal investment. Before upgrading, check whether the item is already resonating, whether the upgrade changes a useful stat or bonus, and whether you can afford the Rune Stone or Rune Core cost.

An older AFK Global beginner guide lists Mythic gear in the Guild Store from Chapter 12-1, AFK drops from 16-11, Tier 1 from 21-1, and Tier 2 from 26-1. It recommends prioritizing a carry, then other main heroes, and discusses faction-specific gear pricing by chapter. These are historical figures and advice, not verified current unlock rules or prices. Check your current campaign progress and Guild Store for what is available to your account.
