The AEG NIK85M00AZ is an 80 cm, five-zone built-in induction hob with linked DoubleBridge zones, Hob²Hood control and a matte SaphirMatt surface. Its published specifications make it possible to assess kitchen fit and key features, but they do not establish independent cooking-performance or long-term durability results. Before buying, check the cutout, electrical connection, cookware needs and hood compatibility against the documentation for your local model.
What is the AEG NIK85M00AZ?
AEG markets the model in the UK as a Series 6000 MultiBridge SaphirMatt hob; its Australian product information also uses the NIK85M00AZ model name. The UK listing gives PNC 949598184, while the manual’s rating plate identifies PNC 949 598 162 00. Because these identifiers differ, confirm the model and PNC on the appliance’s rating plate and use the documentation for your market before ordering parts or assuming regional listings are interchangeable. See the AEG UK product page and AEG Australia product page.
Will it fit your kitchen and electrical supply?
AEG UK lists overall dimensions of 800 × 520 mm and built-in dimensions of 44 × 750 × 490 mm. The UK listing specifies a hardwired connection, not a plug-in connection. The manual’s rating plate lists 7.2 kW and 220–240 V / 400 V 2N, 50 Hz. These are published specifications, not a substitute for checking the installation in your home: have a qualified installer confirm the cabinet opening, wiring, supply and local requirements before purchase or installation.

The manual also describes power management: available supply is shared across zones on the same phase. Each zone is listed at 2300 W nominal and 3200 W with PowerBoost, but that does not mean all five zones can draw their maximum boost simultaneously.
#1 Best Overall
- HIGH EFFICIENCY - ChangBERT Induction cooktop offers 9 preset power levels (200-1800W) and 18 preset temperature settings (120-460℉, 20F per level). With an 83% energy efficiency rating, the induction cooker is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves, providing quick heat-up and faster cooking times.
- CONSISTENTLY STABLE HIGH-POWER OUTPUT - Built for constant use, it features continuous-duty circuitry for non-stop cooking. The unique power control technology ensures stable high-power output, reduces the temperature of internal electronics, and facilitates low-noise heat dissipation, providing reliable cooking performance. This dependable performance sets it apart from others.
- LARGE COOKING AREA - Features an expanded magnetic coil design that optimizes the winding structure to enhance the transfer of electromagnetic energy directly to the cookware, significantly improving heating efficiency and ensuring more even heat distribution across the bottom of the cookware.
- NSF CERTIFIED & COMMERCIAL GRADE - UL commercial standard 197, completely ETL & NSF approved. It meets industry durability standards, passing a drop test with an impact of 1.5 ft lbs. Designed for large-volume usage, it is ideal for commercial and professional settings such as restaurants, industrial kitchens, and other catering services.
- EASY TO CONTROL & CLEAN - The control buttons with solid tactile response make operation intuitive and precise. With simple and clear display, the Key-Press-Control Panel provides clear visibility and easy control, even with gloves or wet hands. With no open flame or heating element, food does not burn onto the glass cooktop, making it easy to clean greasy dirt.
How do the five zones and DoubleBridge work?
The manual specifies five induction zones, each with a stated 21 cm diameter, and a cookware diameter range of 125–210 mm per zone. DoubleBridge joins two zones so they operate as one cooking area. For the linked area to work as described, the manual says the pan must cover the centers of both zones. That makes the feature useful for compatible longer cookware, but it is not a guarantee that every pan shape or size will heat evenly.
For induction, AEG recommends cookware with a thick, flat base. Keep the base clean and dry before use, and avoid sliding or rubbing pans against the glass edges or trim, which the manual warns can chip or damage the surface. Check your pans against the manual’s zone guidance rather than assuming that a larger pan will perform well simply because two zones can be linked.

- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
What do Hob²Hood and the controls do?
Hob²Hood
Hob²Hood links the hob to a special compatible hood. According to the manual, the hob can set the fan speed based on its operating mode and the temperature of the hottest cookware; fan control is also available manually. The hood’s remote-control system may need to be activated, and AEG directs owners to the hood manual for setup. Verify the hood model’s compatibility and activation steps before treating automatic control as a given.
Pause, lock and child safety
The Pause function lowers active zones to their lowest heat setting; it does not stop timer functions. The manual also describes a Child Safety Device and control-lock functions. Consult the manual for the specific activation and release steps for the mode you intend to use.

Is the SaphirMatt surface scratch-proof?
No. AEG describes the SaphirMatt surface as up to 10 times more scratch-resistant than a standard hob surface. The manufacturer says this claim draws on external abrasion testing under IEC 60068-2-70 and an internal comparison of scratch visibility. It is a qualified AEG claim, not independent consumer testing, and it should not be read as scratch-proof or damage-proof. The manual’s warning about avoiding sliding pans against glass edges and trim still applies.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What do the published energy and owner figures show?
AEG’s UK product-information record reports hob energy consumption of 183.5 Wh/kg under EN 60350-2. This is a standardized figure, not an estimate of what the hob will add to a household bill. The underlying AEG UK product-information record is tied to the UK listing’s PNC, so check the documentation for your local variant.

The NIK85M00AZ is worth considering if you need an 80 cm five-zone induction hob, can accommodate its specified cutout and hardwired installation, and have a use for linked zones or a compatible Hob²Hood. Its published features and measurements support a specification-led buying assessment; they do not establish how it performs in independent hands-on cooking tests or how it holds up over years of use.
When comparing it with another 80 cm hob, assess cutout and wiring fit, zone layout, linked-zone behavior with your cookware, hood compatibility, evidence for surface durability, power-management requirements, and local price, warranty, parts and service. Confirm those last details with the regional seller or AEG before committing. AEG Australia lists documentation, dimensions, service and parts routes on its NIK85M00AZ support page.
