The AEG HK674400FB is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with black ceramic glass, a 7.4 kW connected load and a hardwired connection. AEG now labels it discontinued, so the useful questions are whether a surviving unit fits your cutout, whether your cookware works on it, and whether you can still get the right parts. This review answers those from AEG’s published specifications, its user manual and its product-page content. It does not include hands-on cooking tests, so the feature descriptions below are the manufacturer’s own claims.
Availability: a discontinued model
AEG Australia’s product page and support page both mark the HK674400FB as discontinued. In practice that makes it a secondhand or leftover-stock purchase. The historical price shown on the product page is not a current price, and current retailer stock and street prices could not be confirmed for this article. Check with a retailer or a used-appliance seller in your own region before assuming a unit is available. The product page is at AEG Australia’s HK674400FB product page, and the support page is at AEG Australia’s HK674400FB support page.
The product page lists a five-year domestic warranty. Treat that as a historical listing rather than a promise. Warranty terms vary by market and purchase date, so confirm eligibility with AEG support before buying a unit that has already changed hands.
Dimensions, electrical load and installation fit
Most of the buying decision comes down to whether the hob physically fits your benchtop and whether your electrical supply can support it. The published values are below.

| Connection | Hardwired | AEG Australia product page |
Before you commit, work through these checks:
- Cutout width and depth. Measure your existing opening against 560 × 490 mm. A cutout that is larger than this leaves a gap around the hob, and a smaller one will not take it.
- Height below the benchtop. Compare the 55 mm overall height against the space you have beneath the worktop, and check the clearance requirements in the installation section of the manual.
- Supply capacity. A 7.4 kW hardwired appliance needs a suitably rated circuit and isolation. Have a licensed electrician confirm that the existing supply meets the rating plate values before installation.
Features: what AEG says each one does
AEG lists the following functions on its product page. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independently tested performance results.
Automatic cooking: AutoMax and Stop + Go
- AutoMax brings a zone to a boil and then reduces it to the level you select, so you do not have to manage the boil-and-drop sequence yourself.
- Stop + Go reduces active zones to a keep-warm state until you resume cooking, which is useful when you need to pause a pan without switching it off.
On its product page, AEG describes the cooking function in promotional terms: “AutoMax: Our AutoMax cooking function provides fantastic automatic zone control.” That is AEG’s marketing copy, and the page does not date it.

Cookware: what fits and how to check it
Cookware is where most owners run into problems, so the manual’s published dimensions matter. The table below shows the figures in the user manual’s cookware section. Check the table for your specific regional version, because the figures can differ between editions.
| Cooking mode | Published cookware size | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Circular cooking zones | 125–180 mm cookware diameter | User manual cookware table (AEG/Electrolux user manual) |
| Bridge mode, minimum | 140 × 280 mm | User manual; bridge-mode figures vary by side |
| Bridge mode, maximum | 210 × 330 mm | User manual; bridge-mode figures vary by side |
AEG’s product page notes that a wok is not included with the hob, so you will need to source one separately and check it against the bridge-mode dimensions above.

The large cooking area accommodates a variety of cookware sizes, making it ideal for frying pans, stockpots, seafood boils, meal prep, family cooking, restaurants, catering events, and outdoor cooking setups.
Confirming induction compatibility
- Magnet test. Hold a fridge magnet against the base of the pan. It should cling firmly across the base. If it does not, the pan will not work on an induction zone.
- Labelling. Look for an induction symbol on the packaging or the base.
- Flat base. A warped or rounded base reduces contact with the glass and can prevent the zone from detecting the pan.
- Diameter. Compare the pan’s diameter against the circular-zone range or the bridge-mode dimensions before buying.
Owner rating: what the 4.7 score does and does not show
AEG Australia displays a 4.7 from 17 reviews on the product page. Record that as “4.7 from 17 reviews — AEG Australia, year not stated.” The page does not give review dates, a method for collecting reviews, or enough individual review text to summarise recurring owner experiences. Treat the score as a small manufacturer-page signal. It is not independent testing and it is not a measure of long-term reliability. No independently published performance or reliability study for this model was identified.
