The adidas Questar 4 is an entry-level neutral running shoe aimed at easy road runs and routine training. RTINGS’ review describes it as a reasonable running-focused option for that use, but says its weight and subdued ride make it a poor fit for faster workouts. adidas lists Cloudfoam+ cushioning and a textile-and-synthetic upper; those are product specifications and brand claims, not independent evidence of how the shoe performs.
What kind of running shoe is the Questar 4?
The Questar 4 is best considered a budget-oriented daily trainer for runners who mainly want to cover easy miles on roads. RTINGS characterizes it as an entry-level shoe designed primarily for running, with a ride better suited to routine training than to speed-focused sessions. That assessment comes from RTINGS’ review, published August 12, 2026 and most recently changed September 25, 2026.
It is a neutral shoe in the sense that the available material does not identify a stability or motion-control feature. The evidence here does not establish how it will suit an individual runner’s gait, comfort preferences, or injury history.

Easy running and daily mileage
RTINGS’ positive use case is easy runs and ordinary daily mileage. Its review judges the Questar 4 a reasonable entry-level trainer for someone seeking a shoe made primarily for running. adidas describes the cushioning as soft or springy and highlights road traction, but those are the manufacturer’s claims rather than independent test findings.

- Textile and synthetic upper
- Textile sockliner
- Rubber outsole
Speed sessions
RTINGS identifies the shoe’s weight and subdued ride as drawbacks for faster workouts. If your training regularly includes intervals, tempo runs, or other sessions where a lively, quick-feeling shoe is a priority, the available review evidence does not make the Questar 4 a strong match.
Construction and published measurements
adidas lists Cloudfoam+ cushioning, a regular fit, lace closure, textile and synthetic upper, textile sockliner, and rubber outsole. Measurements vary across the regional adidas pages and RTINGS’ review, so no single listed weight or drop should be treated as universal.

The listings do not explain why their figures differ. Shoe size, regional version, or measurement method could account for the variation, but that is not established by the sources. Compare measurements only when the shoe size and measurement method are consistent.
Is the Questar 4 worth considering?
Consider it if you want a running-specific shoe for easy road miles and routine training, and you are comfortable with RTINGS’ assessment that the ride is heavy and subdued. Look elsewhere if fast workouts are a central use case or if you need evidence tailored to your fit, gait, or running history; the available information does not provide that kind of individual guidance.
Rank #3
- QUESTAR 4 M GRETWO/GREFIV/IRONMT
RTINGS mentions the Nike Run Defy only as another affordable entry-level shoe, and says the Questar 4 is the better option for actual running. That limited comparison is not a detailed head-to-head test, so it does not establish which shoe is better for every runner or use.
