The adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is an exceptionally light, soft, bouncy racing shoe built for runners chasing marginal gains—not a versatile daily trainer. Independent reviewers have reported a narrow fit, an unstable ride for some runners, and durability concerns. At the $500 U.S. price reported by reviewers, it makes the most sense for elite racers who value low weight above longevity, stability, and value.
What is the Adios Pro Evo 3?
adidas positioned the shoe as its “first sub 100 gram supershoe” in its launch announcement. That is a manufacturer claim, not a promise that every size weighs less than 100 grams: RunRepeat measured 99 g, while Tom’s Guide measured 106 g in a U.S. men’s size 10 sample. Shoe size and measurement context matter when comparing those figures.
The model debuted at the 2026 London Marathon, according to adidas Hong Kong’s regional product listing. That listing gives a 39.5 mm heel stack, 36.5 mm forefoot stack, and 3 mm drop under adidas’s standard measurement. Tom’s Guide reports rounded stack heights of 39 mm and 36 mm. These are tall figures paired with a low drop, but published stack measurements do not by themselves predict how stable the shoe will feel on an individual runner.
How does it feel to run in?
Reviewers describe a very light shoe with soft, deeply cushioned foam and a springy, bouncy ride. Tom’s Guide describes the midsole as Lightstrike Pro Evo foam and ENERGYRIM, a carbon rim around the outside of the midsole rather than a conventional full carbon plate. That construction detail and ride impression are the reviewer’s account, not a firsthand test here.
#1 Best Overall
- FuelCell midsole foam with approximately 3% bio-based content delivers a propulsive feel to help drive you forward. Bio-based content is made from renewable resources to help reduce our carbon footprint.
- Energy Arc pairs sport-specific carbon fiber plate geometry with strategic midsole voids, designed to increase stored energy to deliver a higher amount of total energy returned
- Angular midsole design reduces weight
- Outsole designed for superior traction
- 4 mm drop; due to variances created during the development and manufacturing processes, all references to 4 mm drop are approximate
RTINGS also characterizes the Evo 3 as softer and bouncier than the Adios Pro 5, while noting instability. Tom’s Guide likewise reports a soft, unstable feel that may not work for every runner. The practical trade-off is clear: the cushioning and lively response may appeal to a racer seeking an aggressive feel, while the shoe’s movement underfoot may be less reassuring to runners who prioritize a planted ride.
Does the fit work for different feet?
RunRepeat measured a notably narrow fit and toebox and warns that runners with wide feet may struggle. Tom’s Guide says adidas racing shoes can run small; its reviewer found that sizing up half a size was worth considering for their own fit. That is an individual suggestion, not a sizing rule for everyone.

If possible, try the shoe on before buying, ideally in the socks you plan to race in. Pay attention to pressure across the forefoot and whether your toes can spread comfortably; a narrow race shoe that feels tolerable while standing may become uncomfortable over a long effort.

Available evidence raises concerns, but it does not establish a universal lifespan. RunRepeat’s laboratory abrasion tests flagged weak upper durability and rapid outsole wear. Tom’s Guide observed patches of outsole wear on its reviewer’s pair after roughly 30 miles, while the midsole still felt bouncy. Those are distinct kinds of evidence—a lab test and a single reviewer’s sample—not a mileage guarantee or a population-wide failure rate.
Rank #3
- FuelCell foam delivers a propulsive feel to help drive you forward, ideal for road running shoes for men seeking speed and efficiency
- Years of research went into perfecting the SuperComp Elite v5 containing a FuelCell midsole made with PEBA
- Energy Arc pairs sport-specific carbon fiber plate geometry with strategic midsole voids, designed to increase stored energy to deliver a higher amount of total energy returned, great for track shoes for men who need peak performance
- Rocker profile for smooth, natural feeling transition from heel to toe, supporting long-distance runners and fans for lightweight running shoes
- Solid rubber outsole
For a shoe at this price, expected use matters. A runner who reserves it for a small number of important races may weigh wear differently from someone hoping to train in it regularly. No population-level mileage figure is established by the cited reviews.
What does it cost, and is it worth the price?
Tom’s Guide reported a U.S. price of $500 and a U.K. price of £450 at the time of its 2026 review; RunRepeat also lists $500. Prices and availability can change, and those figures should not be treated as live quotes for every region or retailer.
Rank #4
- IncrediRUN foam: Next-generation superfoam cushioning with unheard of levels of energy return.
- Full-length slotted carbon fiber plate: Delivers smooth transitions and explosive propulsion with each stride.
- Featherweight knit and mesh upper: Ultra-breathable and designed for connected performance.
- 4/5 level of cushioning
- 8mm offset / 7oz weight
The value case is narrow. For an elite racer who is willing to pay heavily for an exceptionally light shoe and accepts fit, stability, and wear trade-offs, the Evo 3 may be a purposeful race-day tool. For runners looking for one shoe to cover training and racing, or who need a stable or durable option, the evidence does not make the Evo 3 an easy recommendation.

How does it compare with alternatives?
The Adios Pro 5 is the most useful comparison for runners who want race performance with fewer extreme compromises. RTINGS describes it as the more practical choice for most runners, while characterizing the Evo 3 as much lighter and softer, with more bounce but instability. RTINGS also compares the Evo 3 with the ASICS METASPEED RAY, pointing to the Evo 3’s lower weight and cushioning alongside its steep price and instability. Tom’s Guide names the PUMA Fast-R Nitro Elite 3 and ASICS METASPEED RAY and SKY Tokyo as cheaper alternatives.

These comparisons are directional, not a current shopping table: the cited sources do not establish a consistent set of measured weights, widths, prices, durability results, or intended race distances across every alternative. Check the current version, local price, stock, and fit before choosing. In practical terms, prioritize the Evo 3 only if its lower weight and soft, bouncy ride outweigh concerns about narrowness, stability, and wear for your race and feet.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you are an experienced racer seeking an exceptionally light, cushioned race shoe and can try it on or otherwise verify the fit.
- Be cautious if you have wide feet, prefer a firm or stable platform, or expect one shoe to handle frequent training as well as race day.
- Look elsewhere if durability and price are central to your decision; the reviews raise wear concerns but do not establish a dependable lifespan.
