On iOS 27, you can put the built-in Apple TV Remote app icon on your iPhone Home Screen by searching for “Remote,” then dragging the result where you want it. If you would rather open the remote from Control Center, you can add it there instead; these are two different ways to access the same control.
Add the Remote icon to your Home Screen

Go to a Home Screen page on your iPhone.

Swipe down from the middle of the Home Screen to open search.

Type Remote.

Touch and hold the Remote app result, then drag it to the Home Screen page and position you want.

Release the icon.
This iOS 27 placement method is reported by MacRumors and 9to5Mac. Apple’s support guide also lists the Home Screen and App Library as places to open Apple TV Remote.

If search does not show Remote
Open the App Library, find Remote, then touch and hold the icon and drag it onto a Home Screen page. This alternate placement route is also reported in coverage of iOS 27.
Use Control Center instead
If you prefer launching the remote from the system panel, add its control to Control Center. Apple’s current instructions are:

Scroll to Remote or search for Remote, then tap it.

Choose how you want to launch it
| Access route | Best when |

| Control Center | You prefer opening the system panel, or want to add the control there. |
The iOS 27 Home Screen method above places the built-in Remote app icon; it is not the Shortcuts widget procedure. Apple separately explains how to add a Shortcuts widget to the Home Screen.
Connect Remote to an Apple TV or compatible smart TV
Adding the icon only makes Remote easier to open; it does not pair your iPhone with a television. Apple says the Control Center remote works with Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, and AirPlay-compatible smart TVs. To use it with an AirPlay-compatible smart TV, add the TV to the Home app and assign it to a room.

Open Remote, select your Apple TV or smart TV, and enter the four-digit passcode if prompted. Apple’s setup guide has the supported-device details and setup flow.

Check that the iPhone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Update the iPhone or iPad and Apple TV software.

Restart both devices.
These are Apple’s recommended first checks when the remote cannot connect. Apple’s troubleshooting instructions provide the current guidance.
What the iPhone controls can do
Apple’s guide describes using the touch area to navigate and select, and the Back button to return. iPhone volume buttons work with supported audio/video receivers; volume control is not guaranteed for every sound setup.
