To add a retail or third-party Norton license, go to norton.com/setup, enter the product key, then sign in to the Norton account that should own the license—or create an account—and follow the activation prompts. If you bought Norton directly from Norton.com, sign in to the account used for the purchase instead. A newly redeemed key usually creates a separate subscription; it does not automatically extend or merge with an existing plan.
Choose the right route for your purchase

On Windows and Mac, the Norton app may offer sign-in or product-key entry depending on how you purchased the subscription; an internet connection is required to complete activation. Mobile routes vary: the Norton 360 app has sign-in or subscription-redemption options, while App Store, Google Play, and service-provider subscriptions may need their own restore or partner flow. Find your product key and prepare the account
For a boxed product bought online or in a store, check the card or sticker inside the package and the order-confirmation email. Norton describes device-security product keys as 25 characters made up of letters and numbers, without special characters. Retail setup instructions
- Decide which Norton account should own the license before redeeming it. If you already have an account, sign in to that account during registration.
- If you have used Norton before, consider whether the key may already be tied to an older account or another email address.
- If you only need to protect another device, check your current plan’s device allowance before redeeming a second key. Available seats and plan limits vary by plan and region. Add a device to Norton protection
Redeem a retail key and complete activation
- Open norton.com/setup.
- Enter the product key and provide an email address when prompted.
- Sign in to the Norton account that should own the subscription, or create an account if you do not have one.
- Follow the on-screen activation steps. Depending on the purchase and plan, Norton may ask for payment details for automatic renewal and display its License and Services Agreement.
- Continue through the download and installation prompts if you still need to install Norton on a device.
Prompts can vary by product, platform, region, and purchase channel. If the product is already installed, use the app’s profile or activation controls; on Windows and Mac, these may offer sign-in or product-key entry. Norton activation instructions

Decide whether to add a new key, use a device seat, or switch plans
Redeeming another key is not the same as adding a device to your current subscription. Norton says two separate subscriptions do not automatically merge into one. Device limits and subscription FAQs

Fix common license and account errors
“No License Available”
This message can mean that the account has an expired subscription or that you signed in to an account without a valid subscription. Check the account email and subscription status in My Subscriptions before trying another key. Norton activation instructions

The key is associated with another Norton account
Sign out, then try the email used for the purchase or an older Norton account. Check My Subscriptions in that account. Norton advises using the account already associated with the key rather than repeatedly entering it in different accounts. The app shows no active subscription after sign-in
Verify that you used the account tied to the purchase or key. For an App Store, Google Play, or service-provider subscription, use the platform’s or provider’s restore or redemption route rather than assuming a retail-key flow applies. Norton activation instructions
