Acer announced the Predator Helios Neo 16 AI and Neo 18 AI on February 7, 2025, with configurations offering up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. The 16-inch model’s headline screen option was a 240 Hz OLED panel; the 18-inch model was announced with a 250 Hz Mini LED panel. Those are specifications for the original 2025 model families, not Acer’s later refresh.
What Acer announced in February 2025
The launch models were the Predator Helios Neo 16 AI (PHN16-73) and Predator Helios Neo 18 AI (PHN18-72). Acer positioned the smaller laptop for gamers and professionals on the go and the 18-inch version as a desktop-replacement-style option. Both were announced as Windows 11 laptops with configurations up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, 64 GB of memory, and 2 TB of storage. These are line-wide ceilings, not the specification of every configuration sold.
Acer described both models as supporting NVIDIA G-SYNC, Advanced Optimus, and a MUX Switch. The announcement also cited fifth-generation AeroBlade cooling, liquid-metal thermal grease, vector heat pipes, and four-zone RGB keyboards. Those are manufacturer descriptions; Acer’s announcement does not establish independent performance, noise, or thermal-test results.
How the Neo 16 AI and Neo 18 AI differ
| 2025 model | Model family | Announced display distinction | Maximum announced graphics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Predator Helios Neo 16 AI | PHN16-73 | Optional 16-inch OLED WQXGA (2560 × 1600) panel up to 240 Hz; Acer also listed non-OLED options. | Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU |
| Predator Helios Neo 18 AI | PHN18-72 | 18-inch Mini LED WQXGA (2560 × 1600) panel up to 250 Hz. | Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU |
The display distinction is useful when comparing listings: OLED was an option on the 2025 Neo 16, not a standard panel across all PHN16-73 configurations. Likewise, check the exact Neo 18 listing for its panel and other components rather than assuming all configurations are identical. Acer’s February 2025 announcement gives the launch-line specifications and notes that exact specifications, prices, and availability vary by region.

Launch prices and availability were regional
Acer’s February 2025 starting prices and expected rollout windows were:
| 2025 model | North America launch announcement | EMEA launch announcement |
|---|---|---|
| Predator Helios Neo 16 AI | From USD 1,899.99, expected from April 2025 | From EUR 1,699, expected from May 2025 |
| Predator Helios Neo 18 AI | From USD 2,199.99, expected from May 2025 | From EUR 1,799, expected from June 2025 |
These were launch-announcement starting prices and schedules, not current prices or a guarantee of stock. Actual configurations and availability depend on region and retailer. For example, Acer’s U.S. listing for the specific PHN18-72-902R (part NH.U0HAA.003) showed USD 2,849.99 and “Out of stock” when accessed in 2026. That page describes one SKU and is not a market-wide price or availability snapshot: Acer U.S. PHN18-72-902R listing.

Keep the 2025 models separate from Acer’s 2026 refresh
On March 17, 2026, Acer announced refreshed Neo 16 AI and Neo 18 AI families, identified as PHN16-I71 and PHN18-I71. Acer described these newer models with Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors and configurations up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. Those details do not describe the original PHN16-73 and PHN18-72 launch models.
The refreshed Neo 18 was announced with an 18-inch WQXGA 240 Hz display and Ambient Contrast Ratio film; the refreshed Neo 16 was described with an OLED HDR WQXGA panel. Acer announced expected availability for both refreshed models beginning in June 2026 in EMEA and Australia and July 2026 in North America. These are announced schedules, not confirmation of current inventory. See Acer’s March 2026 refresh announcement.

For a concrete example of how much a model family can cover, Acer’s U.S. specifications page for the refreshed PHN16-I71-93EM (part NH.U46AA.001) lists Windows 11 Home, 32 GB DDR5, a 1 TB PCIe NVMe 4.0 SSD, Wi-Fi 6E, Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI, and a 92 Wh battery. Acer states up to 5.5 hours based on MobileMark 2030 for WQXGA-panel models and up to 10 hours for video playback. These are Acer’s results for that SKU page and specified test conditions, not a guarantee for every Neo 16 configuration. See Acer’s PHN16-I71-93EM specifications. Acer’s U.S. Neo 16 AI overview also describes a refreshed configuration ceiling of Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and RTX 5080 Laptop graphics.

- Generation and family: PHN16-73 or PHN18-72 identifies the 2025 launch families; PHN16-I71 or PHN18-I71 identifies the 2026 refresh families.
- Processor and GPU: Confirm the installed processor and Laptop GPU in the retailer’s exact SKU. “Up to” specifications describe a maximum configuration, not every unit.
- Display: Verify panel type, resolution, and refresh rate. The 2025 Neo 16 could be configured with non-OLED panels, while the Neo 18’s announced panel was Mini LED.
- Memory and storage: Check installed capacity rather than relying on the launch family’s maximum.
- Price and stock: Check the local seller’s current listing, warranty, and availability; Acer’s launch prices and schedules were regional and dated.
Acer’s announcements establish advertised specifications, not comparative frame rates, sustained performance, acoustics, or value against competing laptops. Those questions require independent testing of the particular configuration.
