Bandai Namco highlights strategic combat, aircraft customization, and attacks on large targets in its walkthrough-trailer announcement. Those features point to a focus on accessible, high-energy missions and dramatic encounters.
That distinction is central to whether the game will suit you. In its October 3, 2026 review, Tom’s Guide praised the aerial combat’s exhilaration and the visual and sound presentation, while describing the flight as mechanically unlike genuine simulation. That is one reviewer’s assessment, not a measure of universal critical opinion. If authentic aircraft handling is your priority, this is not being presented as that kind of game; if you want a cinematic dogfight, the arcade approach is the point.

The positive review evidence supports the sense of spectacle, but it comes from one outlet and should not be mistaken for a broad review consensus. The key caveat is straightforward: choose it for arcade action and presentation, not simulator realism.

One piece of series promotion illustrates the distinction between real aviation and the game: PC Gamer reported that series director Kono flew in a real jet for a promotional video. That is a promotional detail, not evidence that the game models flight realistically.
