Chinese fitness influencer Abeeeer apologized on October 3, 2026, after acknowledging that she violated race rules by accepting a bicycle ride during the Berlin Marathon. Reports placed a photograph of her on a bike near the 38-kilometer mark, during the same 35–40 km stretch that was reported as her fastest five-kilometer split. She had shared a finish time of 4:53:46 as a personal best. The available reports do not establish whether race organizers formally disqualified her or changed the official result.
What happened at the 2026 Berlin Marathon?
The Berlin Marathon took place on September 27, 2026. Abeeeer, a Chinese fitness influencer reported to have approximately 530,000 social-media followers, posted a finish time of 4:53:46 and presented it as a personal best, according to Runner’s World and The Straits Times.
After the race, the Instagram account OMTIU, which investigates questionable race performances, drew attention to photographs reported to show Abeeeer riding a bicycle near the 38 km point. Coverage also noted that her fastest five-kilometer split was the 35–40 km segment, which overlaps with the reported location of the photograph. This comparison prompted scrutiny; it is not, by itself, an official race-organizer finding.
What did Abeeeer say in her apology?
On October 3, Abeeeer acknowledged violating race rules. She said that feeling unwell did not excuse her conduct and acknowledged that the way she presented the result afterward was dishonest. Runner’s World reproduced her apology as saying, “I will not make any defense for the above behavior.” It also quoted her description of her later presentation of the race as “a very dishonest act” that “violated the sporting spirit of fair marathon competition.” Those quotations were attributed to her social-media apology through the publication’s reporting.

The Independent reported that race-related posts were later removed from her RedNote, also known as Xiaohongshu, account.
How did Brooks China respond?
Brooks China, which had supplied race equipment and partnered with Abeeeer, said it had checked her finishing result and the text, images, and video materials she provided, but had not thoroughly reviewed the full participation process, especially segment data. The Independent reproduced the company’s statement calling the lapse “an oversight on our part.” Brooks China said it terminated its relationship with her.

Was Abeeeer officially disqualified?
The cited reports do not confirm an official Berlin Marathon disqualification, a revised result, or another race-organizer sanction. Abeeeer’s own admission and the reported photograph and split data are distinct from a formal ruling; without an official organizer record, it would be inaccurate to claim that her result was officially changed.
As general context, The Straits Times explains that electronic timing records can help organizers check runners’ progress at course points, while identity checks can address bib swapping and unauthorized substitutes. That describes possible race-integrity measures, not a verified investigation or procedure used by Berlin Marathon officials in this case.
