AB Download Manager 1.8.4 added an in-app browser for Android and search and wildcard filters for its Add-Multi-Download page. It also addressed several Android service and update problems. It is a historical release, not the latest version listed by the project: as of October 8, 2026, the official releases page showed v1.10.4 as latest.
What’s new in AB Download Manager 1.8.4?
The official v1.8.4 release notes describe changes across Android and the Add-Multi-Download page:
- Android in-app browser: The app gained a browser built in.
- Search and wildcard filtering: The Add-Multi-Download page gained search and wildcard filters to help narrow a batch of downloads.
- Clearer service behavior: The Android service was updated to explain why it is running.
- Android fixes: The release fixed random crashes on some devices caused by service-related issues, as well as in-app update problems on some devices.
- Foreground-service changes: Android foreground-service use was limited to periods when downloads, active queues, or scheduled queues required it. The service stops after inactivity.
- Interface and translations: The release updated translations and improved the Add-Multi-Download page UI.
These are release-note claims; they do not establish how much battery, memory, or time a particular user will save. Later 1.8.x updates included further changes. For example, the official changelog lists Windows ARM support and additional Android in-app browser changes in 1.8.5, so those should not be attributed to 1.8.4.
Is AB Download Manager 1.8.4 the latest version?
No. The project’s releases page listed v1.10.4 as the latest release on October 8, 2026, with its assets dated September 8, 2026. Check the official releases page for the current version and its release notes before installing; version numbers and availability can change.
