De AAWireless TWO+ kan bedrade Apple CarPlay en/of Android Auto draadloos maken, maar alleen als je auto of aftermarket-headunit die functie al via een kabel ondersteunt. Sluit je telefoon rechtstreeks aan op de USB-poort van de auto: start CarPlay of Android Auto, dan zou de auto volgens AAWireless geschikt moeten zijn. Auto’s met ingebouwde draadloze CarPlay of Android Auto zijn volgens de fabrikant juist niet compatibel met deze adapter.
De TWO+ is vooral interessant als een auto wordt gedeeld door iPhone- en Android-gebruikers. AAWireless is gevestigd in Groningen en vermeldt dat het product in de EU wordt gemaakt; dat betekent niet dat het volledig in Nederland wordt geproduceerd.
Wat doet de AAWireless TWO+?
De TWO+ is een compacte USB-C-adapter die volgens AAWireless een bestaande bedrade verbinding met Apple CarPlay of Android Auto vervangt door een draadloze verbinding. Hij is bedoeld voor auto’s en aftermarket-multimediasystemen die de betreffende telefoonfunctie al via USB aanbieden; een USB-poort alleen is dus niet genoeg.

De adapter meet volgens de productspecificaties 5,5 × 3,5 × 1,5 cm en weegt 18 gram. Hij gebruikt Bluetooth en wifi. Een multifunctionele knop is bedoeld voor koppelen en wisselen tussen telefoons. AAWireless zegt dat meerdere telefoons kunnen worden gekoppeld en dat het aantal onbeperkt is. De bijbehorende app biedt volgens het bedrijf updates, instellingen en hulp bij probleemoplossing.

Werkt hij met jouw auto en telefoon?
Controleer eerst de bedrade functie
- Gebruik de kabel die je normaal voor je telefoon gebruikt en sluit de telefoon rechtstreeks aan op de USB-poort van de auto.
- Controleer of de gewenste functie — Apple CarPlay of Android Auto — op het scherm van de auto start.
- Als die bedrade functie start, zegt AAWireless dat de auto compatibel zou moeten zijn. Twijfel je over een specifiek model of aftermarket-systeem, controleer dan de compatibiliteitsinformatie van AAWireless voor jouw auto en head-unit.
Deze controle is belangrijk: niet iedere USB-aansluiting ondersteunt CarPlay of Android Auto. De adapter voegt geen telefoonprojectie toe aan een auto die die functie niet al bedraad heeft.
Telefoon- en autosituaties
- Android Auto: de productpagina vermeldt Android 11 of nieuwer voor draadloos Android Auto.
- Apple CarPlay: de productpagina vermeldt iPhone X of nieuwer voor draadloze CarPlay.
- Beide systemen bedraad aanwezig: de TWO+ is bedoeld voor beide platforms. De knop kan worden gebruikt om tussen gekoppelde telefoons te wisselen.
- Auto heeft al ingebouwde draadloze CarPlay of Android Auto: AAWireless zegt dat de TWO+ daarmee niet compatibel is. Deze dongle is gericht op auto’s met de bedrade variant.
De fabrikant positioneert de AAWireless TWO als een Android Auto-only-adapter en de TWO+ als de versie voor Android Auto én Apple CarPlay. Controleer de exacte auto- en head-unitcombinatie voordat je koopt; de genoemde telefoonvereisten en bedrade ondersteuning zijn geen garantie voor ieder afzonderlijk voertuig.

Installeren en verbinden
- Steek de meegeleverde USB-C-naar-USB-A-kabel in de USB-C-poort van de adapter.
- Sluit de kabel aan op de USB-poort van de auto die bedrade CarPlay of Android Auto ondersteunt.
- Koppel je telefoon bij het eerste gebruik volgens de aanwijzingen op het scherm en in de app.
- Bij volgende ritten maakt de adapter volgens AAWireless automatisch verbinding zodra de auto en head-unit starten.
AAWireless legt uit dat Bluetooth eerst wordt gebruikt om de wifi-verbindingsgegevens door te geven; daarna loopt de verbinding via wifi. Dat is de uitleg van de fabrikant over de verbindingsstappen, geen onafhankelijke meting van snelheid of prestaties. Er zijn hier geen onafhankelijke praktijktests beschikbaar voor opstarttijd, betrouwbaarheid, geluidsvertraging of gesprekskwaliteit in specifieke auto’s.

Garantie, retour en beschikbaarheid
De officiële productpagina vermeldt een garantie van twee jaar en een retourtermijn van 30 dagen. Volgens de FAQ zijn de retourkosten voor de klant; voor voorwaarden verwijst AAWireless naar zijn retourvoorwaarden. Controleer de actuele productpagina en voorwaarden voordat je bestelt, omdat beleid en voorraad kunnen veranderen.

- Past niet bij de beschreven toepassing: je auto ondersteunt de gewenste functie niet bedraad, of heeft al ingebouwde draadloze CarPlay of Android Auto.
