aaPanel itself has modest published minimums: 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM, and 1 GB of storage. Those figures are for installing the control panel—not a promise that a website, database, or Docker app will run well on a server with those resources. Choose a Linux VPS, cloud server, or other supported Linux host, then size it for everything you plan to run.

What are the minimum requirements for aaPanel?

aaPanel’s Quick Start documentation lists the following minimum hardware for the panel itself. The page does not display a publication date; the figures below were verified on October 7, 2026.

Resource Published minimum for aaPanel
CPU 1 core
Memory 512 MB RAM
Storage 1 GB

These are installation minimums, not a recommended production-server configuration. The documentation does not provide benchmarks that map CPU, memory, or storage to a site’s traffic or application workload. A server that meets the panel minimum may not have enough headroom for the sites and services you install through it.

Which Linux distribution should you use?

The Quick Start guide says aaPanel is currently developed based on Ubuntu 22.04 and recommends Ubuntu 22. It lists these supported operating systems:

#1 Best Overall
Dell PowerEdge R730xd Server 24B SFF 2U, 2X Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 2.6Ghz (28-cores Total), 128GB DDR4 RAM, 4X 1.2TB 10K SAS 2.5” 12Gb/s HDD, H730P 2GB RAID, NIC 10Gb + I350 1Gb (Renewed)

  • 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 2.6Ghz 14-Core (28-cores Total)
  • 128GB DDR4 RAM – 4x 1.2TB 10K SAS 2.5” 12Gb/s
  • Dell H730P mini 2GB 12Gb/s RAID
  • 2x 750W PSU - 2x 10Gb SFP+ 2x 1Gb (RJ45) NIC
  • Ubuntu 22, 24, and 26
  • Debian 11, 12, and 13
  • CentOS 9 and 10
  • AlmaLinux 8, 9, and 10
  • Rocky Linux 8, 9, and 10

Because supported versions can change, confirm your exact operating-system release against the live Quick Start guide before provisioning. aaPanel’s download page contains a broader OS matrix, but also includes older FAQ information; use the current installation documentation to resolve version questions.

What server setup do you need to install aaPanel?

aaPanel is software installed on a supported Linux server. Its Quick Start guide says shared-hosting users need a VPS or cloud server to install it. If you already have a compatible Linux machine, you can use that instead; the documentation does not endorse a particular provider, processor, storage device, or physical-server model.

Before installing, check whether the server already has a web stack. An aaPanel staff tutorial dated October 31, 2023 recommends starting with a clean operating system rather than one with Apache, Nginx, PHP, or MySQL already installed. That is older forum guidance, not a current formal compatibility matrix. If these services are present, check the current installation instructions before proceeding.

How should you size a server for websites, databases, or Docker apps?

Start with the complete workload, not the aaPanel minimum. A host may need to run the panel alongside a web server, site software, databases, and any containers you deploy. aaPanel’s Docker documentation says one-click applications have different requirements, and its controls limit assigned CPU and memory according to the host’s physical cores and memory. It does not publish universal resource figures for WordPress, databases, or particular traffic levels.

  • 2.80 GHz processor speed ensures efficient operation with consistent reliability
  • Intel Xeon 2.80 GHz processor provides enterprise-grade performance with built-in security and remote management capabilities
  • Quad-core (4 Core) processor core helps server process data quickly and reliably for maximum productivity
  • 1 processors supported for faster processing and improved access to data, optimizing performance under heavy loads
  • With 16 GB memory, you can multitask between applications seamlessly, keeping productivity high and response times quick

When choosing a server, compare the actual resources allocated to it and account for every service you plan to run:

  • CPU: Check the number of cores available to the server. The panel’s one-core minimum does not establish how much CPU a site or container needs.
  • RAM: Leave room for the panel and all installed services. The 512 MB minimum is not a workload recommendation.
  • Storage: The 1 GB minimum applies to aaPanel; site files, databases, logs, and container images also use storage.
  • Operating system: Confirm that the exact Linux release is currently supported.
  • Hosting type: Use a VPS or cloud server if you only have shared hosting and need to install aaPanel.

There is no evidence-backed single RAM figure for “aaPanel plus WordPress” or a guaranteed configuration for a given number of visitors in the official sources cited here. Actual needs depend on the full software stack and workload.

Can aaPanel run on a 1 GB RAM VPS?

One gigabyte of RAM is above aaPanel’s published 512 MB minimum for the panel, so it clears that hardware figure. That alone does not establish that a 1 GB VPS will have adequate memory for a website, database, or Docker application. Check the requirements of the software you intend to run and account for the combined workload; aaPanel does not publish a universal guarantee for this configuration.

Can you run aaPanel in Docker?

Managing Docker applications from aaPanel is different from installing aaPanel itself inside a Docker container. In a forum response dated September 3, 2024, aaPanel staff recommended a virtual machine for trying the panel, saying that many Docker functions may not work normally otherwise. Treat that as staff guidance for a test setup, not as a current formal support matrix. For a normal installation, follow the supported Linux-server instructions in the Quick Start guide.
