Apple’s A19 Pro leads the cited iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max in Geekbench 6 single-core and Tom’s Guide’s Solar Bay Unlimited results, but there is no universal winner. Multicore Geekbench results are close and vary by Galaxy S25 model; the Galaxy S25 Ultra leads the listed Wild Life Unlimited results. These are tests of complete phones, not a controlled comparison of two chips in identical hardware.
Which phones and chip generations are being compared?
A19 Pro powers the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Snapdragon 8 Elite results below come from Samsung Galaxy S25 family phones, including the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra.
Here, “Snapdragon 8 Elite” means Qualcomm’s October 2024 generation, which NanoReview labels “Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4).” It does not mean Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, identified by NanoReview as its successor. The distinction matters when looking up newer phones or benchmark results. NanoReview’s chip comparison uses both names.
How do the specifications compare?
Secondary specification pages list both chips as 3 nm designs, but report different CPU core counts and peak frequencies. Treat these detailed figures as reported specifications rather than independently confirmed measurements: the official Apple and Qualcomm specification pages were not successfully retrieved for this comparison.

These figures alone do not predict which phone will be faster. Chip implementation, handset cooling, software, memory configuration, and power management all affect results.
What do the reviewed-phone benchmarks show?
Tom’s Guide published the following results from its 2025 phone testing. Geekbench 6 scores are single-core and multicore; the 3DMark figures are frame rates for the named tests. Each result belongs to the listed phone model, not to a lab-controlled chip swap. Tom’s Guide’s iPhone 17 Pro review and its linked phone reviews provide the test context.

| Phone and chip | Geekbench 6 single-core / multicore | 3DMark Solar Bay Unlimited | 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited | Adobe Premiere Rush transcode |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 Pro (A19 Pro) | 3,834 / 9,988 | 46.6 fps | 158.4 fps | 22 seconds |

| Galaxy S25 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Elite) | 3,031 / 9,829 | 42.4 fps | 161.7 fps | 52 seconds |
CPU results: A19 Pro leads single-core here; multicore is model-dependent
Both tested iPhones score higher than the three listed Galaxy phones in Geekbench 6 single-core. Multicore is much tighter: the Galaxy S25 Plus posts 10,153, above either iPhone result, while the iPhone scores are above the S25 and S25 Ultra results. The table supports a single-core advantage for these A19 Pro phones, not a blanket claim that every A19 Pro device wins every CPU workload.
Graphics results depend on the test
In 3DMark Solar Bay Unlimited, the two iPhones record 46.6 fps, compared with 42.4–43.7 fps for the listed Galaxy S25 models. In Wild Life Unlimited, the S25 Ultra instead leads at 161.7 fps; the iPhones record 158.4 and 159.5 fps. A graphics winner therefore depends on which test and phone you care about.

One video-transcode test favors the iPhones
Tom’s Guide’s Adobe Premiere Rush transcode took 22 seconds on each iPhone and 52–53 seconds on the three Galaxy phones in its test. This is evidence about that app and tested task; it does not establish that the iPhones finish every video or creative workload faster.

- 91mobiles: Its comparison page reports Geekbench 6 scores of 3,834 single-core / 9,921 multicore for A19 Pro and 3,184 / 10,105 for Snapdragon 8 Elite. It also reports AnTuTu totals of 2,521,699 and 2,810,079, respectively. The page’s figures differ from Tom’s Guide’s phone results, and device context should be checked on its benchmark-detail pages. See 91mobiles’ comparison.
- NanoReview: Its comparison reports Geekbench 6 scores of 3,970 / 10,558 for A19 Pro and 3,013 / 9,287 for Snapdragon 8 Elite, with sample counts of 16 and 148, respectively. It also reports AnTuTu 11 totals of 2,538,751 and 3,126,402. NanoReview cautions that iOS and Android AnTuTu results are not directly comparable, so those totals should not be read as a controlled cross-platform ranking. See NanoReview’s comparison and methodology notes.
What about sustained performance?
Tom’s Guide’s 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test reports stability of 72% for iPhone 17 Pro Max, 70% for iPhone 16 Pro Max, and 58.3% for Galaxy S25 Ultra. This is a result for those specific phones in that stress test; it is not a general stability rating for either chip. The inclusion of an iPhone 16 Pro Max also means this particular set does not compare two A19 Pro phones against the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

How should you use these results when choosing a phone?
- For the strongest evidence of single-core performance in these tests: the iPhone 17 Pro models score higher than the listed Galaxy S25 phones in Geekbench 6.
- For multicore performance: compare the exact handsets. The S25 Plus leads this group’s Geekbench 6 multicore scores, while the other results are close.
- For graphics: check the specific workload. iPhones lead Solar Bay Unlimited in this table, while the S25 Ultra leads Wild Life Unlimited.
- For app performance: use a test that resembles your task. The Premiere Rush result is useful for that tested transcode, not a proxy for every app.
Benchmark results are volatile: phone software, benchmark versions, and newer devices can change the picture. A score from one publisher should not be treated as interchangeable with another publisher’s aggregate or a different phone’s result.
