A refurbished eighth-generation iPad could be a low-cost first tablet or household spare, but the reported sub-$100 price is a dated deal—not a confirmed current offer. Macworld reported the iPad at $110 before a 10% discount code on October 1, 2026. Check Woot’s live listing for the current price, code, stock, condition, warranty, and return terms before buying. The available sources do not establish that RAM-price increases caused this deal or quantify a RAM pricing surge.
What was the reported iPad deal?
Macworld reported a Grade A refurbished iPad (8th generation) through Woot for $110, with a 10% discount code that would bring the price below $100 before any applicable tax or shipping. That report is dated October 1, 2026; it does not confirm that the price, code, or inventory remains available. Treat the condition and 90-day warranty as claims reported by Macworld, and confirm them in Woot’s current listing and seller terms before placing an order. Macworld’s deal report
Why the RAM-surge headline needs context
The phrase “beat the RAM pricing surge” is headline framing, not an established explanation for the offer. The available sources neither quantify a RAM-price surge nor show that RAM pricing caused Woot’s refurbished-iPad deal. Buying a tablet also does not offset the cost of RAM for a computer upgrade.

Apple lists the iPad (8th generation) with a 10.2-inch Retina display, an A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine, a Lightning connector, and either 32GB or 128GB of storage. It supports Apple Pencil (1st generation), sold separately. Apple lists this iPad as compatible with iPadOS 26; compatibility does not mean every feature in that operating system is available on this model. At the iPad’s 2020 launch, Apple said the A12 Bionic delivered 40 percent faster CPU performance and twice the graphics capability compared with the previous-generation iPad. Those are Apple’s launch-era comparisons, not current independent benchmark results. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “We’re excited to offer customers an even faster and more powerful experience with the eighth-generation iPad.” Apple’s September 15, 2020 announcement
Who might find it useful—and who should look elsewhere?
A child’s first tablet or a basic spare
If the actual unit is in the advertised condition and the apps you need run on it, this iPad may suit basic browsing, video, reading, and school or household tasks. Its 32GB option may leave limited room for apps, downloads, and photos, so check the exact storage capacity rather than assuming all listings offer the same configuration.

Buyers who need a longer-term or more demanding device
For demanding apps, ample offline storage, or a device you expect to keep for years, compare the cost of this older refurbished model with current alternatives. Check app requirements directly: iPadOS compatibility alone does not guarantee that a particular app or feature works well on the eighth-generation iPad.
What to verify on the live listing
Before paying, check the complete listing and the seller’s terms. A low price is useful only if the specific unit and its protections fit your needs.

- Final price: Confirm the current price, whether the discount code still works, and any shipping or tax charges.
- Storage: Verify whether the unit has 32GB or 128GB; do not infer capacity from the model name.
- Condition and battery: Read the condition description and look for battery-health information. If battery condition is not stated, ask the seller or decide whether that uncertainty is acceptable.
- Returns and warranty: Confirm the return window, any exclusions, and warranty duration and coverage in the current seller terms. The 90-day warranty was reported by Macworld, not verified here against live terms.
- Network model: Check whether the listing is Wi-Fi-only or cellular and, for a cellular model, whether it works with your carrier.
- App and accessory needs: Confirm your essential apps support the device. Apple lists compatibility with Apple Pencil (1st generation), but the Pencil is optional and should not be assumed to be included.
- Seller reliability: Review who fulfills the order and how the seller handles refurbished-device issues.
How to judge the price against alternatives
Compare offers using the same factors: total current price, iPad generation and software compatibility, storage, condition, battery information, return and warranty terms, and seller reliability. A dated deal price should not be compared with today’s new-iPad prices as though both were checked at the same time. If the Woot listing no longer offers the reported discount or its terms are unclear, reassess the purchase using the live total and available alternatives rather than relying on the old headline.
