The Academy is a free learning site with lessons, recipes and guides for building AI systems, and its content is produced and monitored by a set of specialized agent roles rather than a conventional editorial team. According to a first-person case study by Matthias Meyer, Founder & AI Director at StudioMeyer, dated July 14, 2026, the agents do the drafting, reviewing and monitoring, while people still decide how the curriculum is structured, approve every release and set the tone.
What The Academy is
The site offers a six-level path that starts at an entry point and ends with building an MCP server. The case study does not list the levels in between, so this article does not reconstruct them. Meyer describes the project in two ways: as a rehearsal for StudioMeyer’s ideas about memory-first work and agent patterns, and as evidence, in the form of a learning site built with the kinds of systems it explains. In his words: “The Academy sells nothing. It is free and needs no account.”
The six agent roles
The case study names six functions. Each is handled by a separate agent, and Meyer describes the arrangement as a group of agents with distinct roles instead of a team of editors.

The case study does not name the underlying models, the agent framework, the hosting provider or the analytics tools. Each of those is “not stated” in the source.

Why the writer and the reviewer are separate
The central design choice is that writing and review are assigned to different agents. Meyer’s argument is that a writer reviewing its own output tends to accept what it has already produced. An independent reviewer is instead tasked with looking for weak spots, and it can reject the draft outright. This is the author’s rationale for the design. The case study presents it as reasoning behind the setup, not as a result that has been tested or measured.
How topics are chosen
Meyer argues that a topic agent following what is currently popular would produce trend-driven pieces, and those pieces would not add up to a coherent course. In the described system, the topic agent proposes missing topics within the learning structure. For a reader moving through six levels, that matters: each lesson is meant to have a defined place in the sequence rather than answer whatever was in the news that week.

What still needs a human
Meyer identifies three responsibilities that he keeps with people:
- Curriculum structure. Deciding which six levels exist and what belongs in each one is, in his description, a pedagogical decision.
- Release. No text goes live without a human, and Meyer frames publication as the operator’s responsibility.
- Tone. The difference between an accurate explanation and one that lands with readers remains handmade.
On the first point he puts it this way: “An agent can propose gaps, but the build of a course is an opinion about how people learn.” These are the operator’s own descriptions of the process. Nothing in the source independently audits whether every release followed the gate he describes.

What the case study does not establish
- Learning outcomes. No measurement shows that the platform improves learning.
- Cost. No comparison with a human editorial team is reported.
- Reach. No readership or AI-answer visibility figures are published.
- Stack. The models, agent framework, hosting provider and analytics tools are not named.
- Independence. The source is a first-party account, not an independent verification or a measured study.
Anyone who wants to test the claims would have to ask the operator for data. The article itself provides none.

- Role separation: Are writing and review assigned to different agents, and can the reviewer reject work?
- Editorial control: Who sets the curriculum structure, and who approves each release?
- Topic strategy: Do topic proposals fill gaps in a learning path, or do they follow trends?
- Accountability: Are readership and AI-answer visibility monitored, and is human responsibility written down?
- Operational proof: Does the operator share outcomes, costs and failure cases?
