You can play Roblox on some Linux PCs without Wine by installing Sober from Flathub with Flatpak, then following its first-run prompt to install Roblox. Sober is an unofficial, experimental runtime—not a Roblox-supported Linux client—so check the hardware requirements and be prepared for bugs or changes in availability.
What Sober is—and what it isn’t
Sober is a Linux runtime for Roblox distributed as a Flatpak through Flathub. Its developers describe it as a specialized runtime that does not use Wine, an Android emulator, or a virtual machine. It is a closed-source, experimental research project and is not affiliated with or supported by Roblox. The project homepage warns: “It’s a passion project rather than production-grade code. It’s not supported by Roblox and may be discontinued at any time.” Sober project homepage
Roblox’s 2025 annual report listed its client platforms as iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Chromebook, and select VR hardware as of December 31, 2025; Linux was not included. That dated list does not establish whether Roblox may add Linux support later. Roblox annual reports

- An x86-64/AMD64 processor. ARM devices are currently unsupported.
- Graphics capable of OpenGL ES 3.0.
The project recommends SSE4.2 CPU support and Vulkan 1.1-capable graphics for a smoother experience. Roblox’s x86-64 APK requires SSE4.2; Sober can emulate that instruction set on processors that support only SSE4.1, but performance will not be optimal. Flathub lists Sober for x86_64 only, which is consistent with the architecture requirement. A Flatpak package does not make the app compatible with ARM systems or hardware that falls short of the graphics requirements. Sober on Flathub

Install Sober and Roblox
- Install Flatpak if it is not already available on your Linux distribution. Use your distribution’s documented package manager or setup instructions.
- Install Sober from Flathub. In a terminal, run
flatpak install flathub org.vinegarhq.Sober. Follow any prompts Flatpak displays. - Launch Sober from your desktop application menu.
- Follow the first-run prompt to install Roblox. Automatic installation is selected by default; the project advises leaving it selected unless you know what you are doing.
- Start Roblox through Sober once installation finishes.
If you choose manual installation, Sober asks for the APK bundle version. Use automatic installation if you are unsure whether an APK mirror is trustworthy. For some split APK bundles, the base APK and the x86_64 split both need to be selected. See the Sober installation documentation for the project’s current instructions.
What to expect from compatibility and reliability
Sober’s experimental status matters: the project warns that it can have bugs or instability and may be discontinued. There is no basis here to promise that every Roblox experience will work, that a user account will be safe, or that performance will match another platform. Treat it as an option to try on compatible hardware, not an officially supported client.

At the time Flathub was accessed on October 5, 2026, its listing showed Sober version 1.8.0. The release notes said it fixed long-standing performance issues and freezes, a rendering bug affecting some titles on certain GPUs, and some Vulkan-related crashes; they also said Roblox was updated to 2.741.1061. These are release-note claims, not independent test results or a guarantee for your system. Check the live Flathub listing and release notes for current information.

To uninstall the Flatpak app, run:
flatpak uninstall org.vinegarhq.Sober
