Yes—but a $600 gaming PC in 2026 is a tight, price-sensitive target, not a guaranteed cart. A tower with a dedicated graphics card may fit if you find suitable live prices and keep the scope clear: the budget here is for the tower before tax, shipping, operating-system licensing, monitor, keyboard and mouse. A Ryzen 5 5600 and Radeon RX 6600 make a sensible combination to price-check, but current prices and stock have not been verified, so neither is a confirmed best buy.

What a $600 gaming PC budget needs to cover

Count the complete tower, not just the processor and graphics card. Include the motherboard, memory, storage, power supply and case in the parts subtotal. Then show tax and shipping separately, and say whether an operating system or peripherals are included. A list that reaches $600 before adding essential tower parts is not a $600 build.

Prices and availability change quickly. Check a complete, purchasable cart on publication day before calling any parts list a $600 build. Compare CPU-and-motherboard bundles with the standalone prices; a bundle can change whether the target works.

A practical DIY combination to price-check

One candidate is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 with a compatible B550 motherboard, dual-channel DDR4, a Radeon RX 6600, an SSD, a reputable power supply and a case. This is a starting point for a live price check, not a verified $600 bill of materials or a guarantee of best value.

  • The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
  • 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
  • 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz

  • Cooler not included

Processor and platform

AMD lists the Ryzen 5 5600 as a six-core, 12-thread AM4 processor with DDR4 support, boost speeds up to 4.4 GHz and a default 65 W TDP. It requires a discrete graphics card, so the processor alone cannot provide display output for gaming. AMD lists B550, B450 and A520 among supported chipset families; that does not guarantee a particular motherboard will boot the CPU with its shipped BIOS. Check the exact board’s CPU-support list and required BIOS revision before buying. AMD Ryzen 5 5600 specifications

Graphics card and power

AMD specifies the desktop Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, 132 W typical board power and one 8-pin supplemental power connector. AMD recommends a minimum 450 W power supply for the card. That is the card maker’s minimum recommendation, not a guarantee that any PSU labeled 450 W is suitable: choose a reputable unit, confirm it has the required connector and allow headroom for the full system and any planned upgrade. Board-partner cards can differ in dimensions and connector details, so verify the exact model. AMD Radeon RX 6600 specifications

These are vendor figures; the product page did not expose the test configuration or test date in the retrieved result. They are not independent measurements of this proposed build and should not be treated as expected performance in other games, settings or current game versions.

Memory, storage and case

Use a matched dual-channel desktop DDR4 kit supported by the exact motherboard. AMD lists support up to DDR4-3200 in its stated memory configurations; faster overclocked memory claims depend on the specific board and configuration. Corsair TM30 Performance Thermal Paste | Ultra-Low Thermal Impedance CPU/GPU | 3 Grams|w/applicator, Silver for Desktop
  • Enthusiast CPU Thermal Compound: Premium Zinc Oxide based thermal compound for optimal thermal performance.
  • Cools your CPU and GPU: Install new, or replace existing thermal compound on your CPU and GPU to improve heat transfer and lower temperatures.
  • Improved CPU Cooling: Ultra-low thermal impedance lowers CPU temperatures vs common thermal paste.
  • Installation Made Easy: An included application stencil and spreader take the guesswork out of applying XTM50 to your CPU cooler.
  • Filling the Gap: XTM50’s low-viscosity allows it to easily fill microscopic abrasions and channels for peak thermal transfer.

Before ordering, check the graphics card’s length against the case, the case’s motherboard format, cooler clearance, included fans and front-panel connections against the case and motherboard manuals. Confirm that the cooler and other parts fit together, not just that each item is individually compatible.

Three ways to approach the budget

Route What it offers What to check
DIY with new parts A parts list built around new components, with the clearest route to checking each part’s warranty and support terms. Verify live prices, stock, compatibility and complete delivered cost. No current $600 parts total has been established.
DIY with used parts Used components may leave more budget for graphics performance. No specific used price is established. Check condition, seller return terms and warranty coverage before comparing against new parts.
Near-budget prebuilt PC Gamer reported a Ryzen 5 5600GT prebuilt at $599.99. It can serve as a convenience comparison, but it is not equivalent to a discrete-GPU DIY tower. The cited PC Gamer page describes the integrated graphics as suitable for lighter 1080p use, not high resolutions or settings in modern games. Verify the listing and its terms before treating that reported deal as currently available.

For any alternative, compare total delivered price, whether parts are new or used and their warranty coverage, independently supported 1080p performance, GPU memory and power, platform upgrade options, storage, included operating system and included peripherals. The reported prebuilt figure is from PC Gamer’s cheap gaming PC deals page; its appearance there does not establish that the deal remains available.

Pre-purchase checklist

  1. Price the complete tower. Check the CPU and motherboard bundle as well as standalone prices. Record a live parts subtotal and the time you checked it; list tax, shipping, OS and peripherals separately.
  2. Verify the motherboard and CPU. Confirm exact Ryzen 5 5600 support and the BIOS revision required for the board to boot it.
  3. Match the memory. Choose a supported DDR4 kit with two matched modules for dual-channel operation.
  4. Check graphics power and fit. Confirm the exact RX 6600 model’s dimensions and connector, and choose a reputable PSU with the required 8-pin plug and capacity at or above AMD’s 450 W recommendation.
  5. Check case and board details. Confirm the case fits the motherboard and GPU, provides the needed cooler clearance, and has suitable fans and front-panel connections.
  6. Recheck the cart before recommending it. Stock, shipping and component prices can change the total; confirm every item is available and that the complete tower still meets the stated budget.

How to judge whether the build is right for you

The Ryzen 5 5600 and RX 6600 pairing is a plausible dedicated-GPU starting point, but a budget label cannot establish value by itself. Decide based on a current full-tower price and credible independent 1080p testing for the games you play. The AMD figures above are useful as vendor-published examples, not as a substitute for testing the exact configuration. For a broader comparison of the reported prebuilt deal, see PC Gamer’s roundup; the phrase “$600 budget breakdown” also appears in PlayStation Universe’s article, but its wording is not evidence of a current parts list or price.
