Start with the email platform you already use: both Gravity Forms and WPForms document integrations with popular services, but coverage, available subscriber controls, and the plugin plan required vary by service. For example, Gravity Forms says its Mailchimp add-on is included with all its listed licenses, while WPForms requires Plus or higher for Mailchimp. Choose by checking your exact service, the fields and consent options your workflow needs, and the plan that includes them—not by a headline integration count.

Which email marketing services do they support?

Both vendors document connections to Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, and AWeber. Their broader catalogs differ, and a service appearing in a catalog does not establish that every field, list, or segmentation feature is supported.

These are vendor-documented offerings, not a claim that each connection is identical in setup or capability. Gravity Forms’ comparison page is published by Gravity Forms itself, so treat its matrix as vendor-authored product information rather than independent testing: Gravity Forms’ comparison article.

What should you compare beyond the service name?

Before choosing a form plugin, write down what the form must send and what should happen after submission. Check the documentation for the exact integration rather than assuming every service offers the same controls.

  • Destination: Can the form send subscribers to the right audience, list, or equivalent destination?
  • Data mapping: Can you map the form fields you collect to the email service’s fields and custom attributes?
  • Segmentation: If you rely on tags or groups, confirm that the specific integration supports the ones you need.
  • Consent: Check whether the integration supports your required opt-in behavior, including double opt-in where applicable.
  • Rules: If only some submissions should become subscribers, verify that the integration and your form setup support the needed conditional rules.
  • Eligibility: Confirm that your plugin license includes the add-on or feature before you buy or renew.

Mailchimp example: documented depth is not universal

Gravity Forms’ Mailchimp page describes audience selection, groups, tags, custom fields, double opt-in, and conditional rules. Those are Mailchimp-specific details in the cited documentation; they should not be assumed for Gravity Forms’ other integrations or for WPForms’ Mailchimp connection. WPForms’ Mailchimp guide describes connecting an account and mapping form fields. Compare the two vendors’ current instructions against the fields and consent flow your own form requires.

How do plugin plans affect the choice?

License access can decide the comparison even when both plugins support your email platform. As of the vendor pages reviewed on October 5, 2026, Gravity Forms says its Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, and AWeber add-ons are included with all its listed licenses. WPForms’ current pricing table assigns integrations to different tiers: it shows Constant Contact on all listed plans, several marketing integrations on Plus, Pro, and Elite, and ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, and Salesforce on Elite. WPForms’ Mailchimp guide specifies Plus or higher.

These are vendor-stated plan details, not permanent terms. Check the live Gravity Forms pricing and license information and WPForms pricing table for the service and features you need before purchasing; tier names and eligibility can change.

What if there is no suitable direct integration?

Automation connectors may offer another route, but they add a separate service and configuration to the workflow. Gravity Forms lists Zapier, with availability shown for Pro, Elite, and Nonprofit. WPForms documents Zapier, Make, and webhooks in its add-on directory. Check the relevant Gravity Forms directory or WPForms add-on directory, then verify the connector’s current plan requirements, supported triggers and actions, and any third-party fees. A connector is not automatically a like-for-like substitute for a native add-on.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose based on a specific Gravity Forms connection if its documentation confirms the audience, field mapping, tags or groups, consent handling, and rules you need—and the add-on is available with your license.
  • Choose based on a specific WPForms connection if its service guide and current plan table show the required integration and tier, and the documented field mapping meets your needs.
  • If both appear to fit, compare the exact workflow: follow each vendor’s instructions for your email platform and confirm what a submitted form can send. Catalog breadth alone does not prove feature parity.
  • If neither direct route fits, investigate a documented connector and account for its setup, plan limits, and costs separately.

The available vendor documentation does not establish an independent head-to-head result for setup ease, reliability, performance, or deliverability. Those are not sound reasons to declare a universal winner from the integration lists alone.
