To see your latest edits, sort Obsidian’s File explorer by Modified time and put the newest files first. For a filtered or reusable list, use Search or Bases; Obsidian Sync’s separate history view is for synced files.
Sort the File explorer by modified time
This is the quickest way to scan notes in the vault’s existing folder tree.

Open the File explorer.

Select Change sort order at the top of the panel.

Choose Modified time, then set the direction so the newest files appear first.
Obsidian’s File explorer supports ascending or descending order by file name, modified time, or created time. The sort control’s location may vary with the app layout or version, so use the visible control rather than relying on a particular icon position. Obsidian Help: File explorer

Sort Search results by modification time
Use Search when you want recent edits that match a term or filter, rather than a scan of the folder tree.

Open Search and enter a term or filter, if needed.

Change the results sort order to Modified time (new to old).

Search also offers oldest-to-newest modification order, as well as created-time and name sorting. Obsidian Help: Search
Create a reusable recent-notes list with Bases
A Base can provide a saved view of notes edited within a rolling time window. In its filter, use the file.mtime property, which represents the file’s modified time. For example, this condition matches files modified within the last week:

file.mtime > now() - "1 week"
In the Base view, sort the date/time property from new to old to place the latest edits first. You can show file names or links alongside the modification date. If the list looks incomplete, check which files the Base includes and review its view settings. See Obsidian’s Bases syntax and Bases views documentation.
The filter is evaluated against now(), so the time window moves as time passes. It uses each file’s current modified time, not a record of every edit: editing a note again updates its current modified timestamp.

View recent activity for synced files
Obsidian Sync has a Sync history sidebar for recently created or modified synced notes and attachments. It is separate from a view of all notes in a local vault.

Enable the Sync core plugin.

Open the Command palette and run Sync: Show Sync history. You can also assign a hotkey to that command.

The sidebar is not shown by default. The documented hover behavior for seeing who last edited a file is desktop-only. For details, see Obsidian Sync: Version history.
When built-in sorting is not enough
If you need a custom arrangement of files and folders, community plugins may offer additional behavior. Mix Folders and Files describes sorting files and folders together by modified time, created time, or name; Workbench Explorer Sort describes folder-specific rules and sorting by modified time. These are optional community-maintained plugins, not built-in guarantees. Check their current compatibility and maintenance details before installing:
