Scan a multi-page document in CamScanner
Keeping the pages together from the start makes it easier to review and export them as one file. The exact button names and layout can differ by app version, so use the installed app’s current prompts if they do not match these descriptions.
- Start a new document. Open CamScanner and create a scan. Capture the first page, then continue adding pages to that same document rather than saving each as a separate image.
- Check the crop on each page. CamScanner’s guide describes Auto Crop for detecting document boundaries and perspective. If a crop cuts off an edge or includes too much background, adjust the boundary before moving on.
- Enhance selectively. Use an enhancement option when a page needs more clarity or contrast. Compare the result with the original, especially for small print, dates, signatures, and numbers; a filter may not help every page.
- Review the whole document. Look for missing pages, duplicate captures, blurry images, and pages in the wrong order. Remove, replace, or reorder pages before exporting.
- Run OCR if needed. Optical character recognition (OCR) identifies text in a scan so it can be searched or selected. Check the result before relying on it: the feature descriptions do not establish a recognition-accuracy guarantee.
- Export one PDF. Choose PDF as the output for the complete document. Available formats and sharing paths may vary by platform, app version, region, or plan, so confirm the options shown in your app.
Make the pages easier to read
Fix boundaries before applying filters
A crop that trims a document edge can remove information, while a wide crop may leave distracting background around the page. Inspect the page boundary first and correct it where needed. Auto Crop is intended to detect boundaries and perspective, but you should still review the result rather than assume the detection is right.
Enhance only when the original needs it
Enhancement can improve apparent clarity or contrast, according to CamScanner’s guide. It is not a substitute for checking the actual content: zoom in on fine print and important marks after applying it. If the processed image makes text, a signature, or a number harder to distinguish, try a different setting or keep the less-processed version.

Choose whether to use OCR
OCR is useful when you want to search for words in a scanned record or select recognized text. CamScanner’s Android listing describes extracting recognized text for later searching, editing, or sharing. OCR can misread characters, so compare important names, dates, account details, and figures against the page image before using or sharing extracted text as authoritative.
CamScanner or your phone’s built-in scanner?
For a quick, occasional scan of a few pages, the built-in scanning tools on iPhone or Android may be enough. CamScanner’s practical advantage is having capture, crop and enhancement adjustments, page management, OCR, and PDF export in one described workflow. The available documentation does not establish that CamScanner produces sharper scans than built-in tools, so choose based on the controls and file handling you need rather than an assumed image-quality advantage.

Check sharing, privacy, and subscription details
CamScanner’s privacy policy says the service may collect documents or images that users choose for OCR when syncing files, and documents chosen for format conversion. It also lists device information such as IP address, operating system, device model, network type, Android ID, and advertising identifiers. This is the policy’s disclosure, not an independent security assessment. If a scan contains sensitive information, review the current policy and consider whether syncing, OCR, or conversion is appropriate for that document.
The Google Play and Apple App Store listings describe recurring subscription options, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual billing. The charge depends on the selected plan, and offers can vary by region; check the subscription terms displayed in your store or app before confirming.
