Angular NG0403 means the NgModule passed to bootstrapModule(...) has no root component configured in its bootstrap array and does not implement ngDoBootstrap. For a conventional NgModule app, add the intended root component to that module’s @NgModule metadata. Use ngDoBootstrap only when the application deliberately controls startup manually.
What causes Angular NG0403?
Angular raises NG0403 when the module used to start the application has neither a nonempty bootstrap property nor an ngDoBootstrap method. The official NG0403 guidance documents both a missing bootstrap property and an empty array as causes.
This is a startup configuration problem in the bootstrapped module—not a missing template import. Angular needs to know which component to initialize, or the module must provide its own bootstrap logic.
Fix it with a root component
For the usual NgModule setup, list the intended root component in the bootstrap array of the module passed to bootstrapModule(...):

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
@NgModule({
declarations: [AppComponent],
imports: [BrowserModule],
bootstrap: [AppComponent],
})
export class AppModule {}
platformBrowser().bootstrapModule(AppModule);
The NgModule API defines bootstrap as the components Angular bootstraps when the module starts. In this example, AppComponent is the root component; replace it with the component your application is meant to initialize. Angular’s NgModules guide explains that components in bootstrap are automatically included in the module’s declarations.
Use ngDoBootstrap for intentional manual startup
If the application is designed to decide in code which component to start, implement ngDoBootstrap on the NgModule class instead of adding a conventional root-component array. Angular recognizes this lifecycle hook as the alternative to a nonempty bootstrap array.

Choose this only when manual startup is part of the application’s design. Adding an arbitrary hook or placeholder component merely to silence NG0403 can hide a configuration mistake rather than fix it.

Open that module’s
@NgModulemetadata. Confirm thatbootstrapcontains the intended root component, or that the module class implementsngDoBootstrap. -
If the component is listed but NG0403 persists, verify that you edited the same module passed to
bootstrapModule. Projects with multiple modules or a changed entry point can otherwise leave the actual startup module unconfigured.Rank #4

Does fixing NG0403 require migrating away from NgModules?
No. The immediate fix for an existing NgModule application is to configure its root component or implement manual bootstrap. Separately, Angular’s current NgModules guide recommends bootstrapApplication instead of bootstrapModule for new code, while still documenting NgModules for understanding existing applications. Treat that as architectural guidance, not a required step to resolve NG0403.

When an NgModule’s bootstrap array lists components, Angular locates matching host elements and renders those components there, as described in the NgModules guide. The API reference likewise identifies the array as the set of components bootstrapped when the module starts.
