When did Windows Server 2022 become available?
Microsoft announced general availability on September 1, 2021. Bernardo Caldas, Microsoft’s Vice President of Program Management, Core OS and Edge Infrastructure, wrote, “Today, we are announcing the general availability of Windows Server 2022.” Microsoft’s September 1, 2021 announcement is the primary source for that date.
Petri reported that Windows Server 2022 became available through VLSC on August 18, 2021. That earlier date concerns the volume-licensing download channel; it is secondary reporting, not the date Microsoft gave for its general availability announcement. Petri’s contemporaneous report describes the VLSC timing.

Microsoft framed Windows Server 2022 around security, hybrid use, and containers. The launch post highlighted secured-core server and secured connectivity, Azure Arc and SMB Compression, Windows Admin Center improvements, and enhancements to Windows containers. These were the announcement’s headline areas, not a complete feature inventory.

Those are capability figures from Microsoft’s September 1, 2021 announcement, not independent benchmark results or a guarantee of performance for a specific workload.
