Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf a Claude Artifact is missing, blank, stuck loading, or showing an error, first check that Code execution and file creation is enabled. Then narrow the issue: creation, your own view, a shared viewer, or an attached file each has different documented checks. For an explicit Artifact error, use Try fixing with Claude; for a blank page or endless spinner, Anthropic does not document one universal cause or guaranteed fix.
Start with the capability setting and the device you’re using
Claude’s documented prerequisite for Artifacts is that Code execution and file creation be enabled. Individual Free, Pro, and Max users can check Settings > Capabilities. Team and Enterprise users should check Organization settings > Capabilities; an organization policy may control whether an individual can change the setting. See Claude’s Artifact guidance.
If a feature or control is absent on a phone, try Claude on web or desktop before assuming the Artifact is damaged. Mobile apps support asking for and viewing designs, decks, and documents. Starting from a template, editing, and changing sharing settings are directed to web or desktop.
Identify where the failure occurs
Before changing anything, note what happens and where. This is a practical way to distinguish documented access and file limits from symptoms for which Anthropic does not publish a universal cause.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Creation: Is the Artifact not generated, or does generation show an error?
- Your own view: Does it open but show a blank area, incomplete content, or a spinner?
- Shared view: Does the owner see it while a recipient cannot?
- One section only: Does the Artifact open but fail where it uses connected-app data?
- Attached input: Is the problem with a file uploaded to a chat or project, rather than with the Artifact itself?
Record the platform, Artifact type, exact error text, and whether another viewer can reproduce the issue. That information makes a support request more actionable.
Fix an Artifact that shows an error
When Claude displays an Artifact error, look near it for Try fixing with Claude. The Claude Help Center explains: “If an artifact generates an error, look for the ‘Try fixing with Claude’ button near the error message. Click it to copy the error details into a new message, then send it to Claude to diagnose the issue and suggest a fix.” This sends the error details in a new message for diagnosis; it is not a guarantee that Claude can resolve every error. Claude’s Artifact guidance notes that some errors need more troubleshooting.

- Find Try fixing with Claude beside the visible error.
- Select it to copy the error details into a new message.
- Send the message and follow the suggested diagnosis or correction.
If the button is unavailable or the error remains, keep the exact message and describe what you were doing when it appeared. Use Claude support rather than treating an unsuccessful handoff as proof of a particular underlying cause.
Check access when a shared Artifact fails
For current shared Artifacts, the viewer must sign in to a Claude account. In Team and Enterprise organizations, an owner can disable external sharing, which prevents “Anyone with the link” access unless the organization allows it. A link that works for its creator may therefore fail for an outside viewer because of sign-in or organization policy. Claude’s sharing guidance describes these access conditions.

If the Artifact uses data from a connected app, the connected-app section uses the viewer’s own connections. A recipient who lacks access to the underlying source may see an error in that section even when the Artifact itself opens. Check the affected viewer’s sign-in, organization sharing policy, and relevant app connection rather than assuming the whole Artifact is broken.
Treat an Artifact shared by someone you do not know like a file from an unknown sender. Be cautious before copying or running its code.

Check attached-file formats and limits
A chart or image missing from an Artifact may reflect how Claude processed its source file, not a rendering fault. Claude’s consumer Help Center lists the following upload formats and limits; these apply to Claude chat and project uploads, not the separate Files API workflow. See Claude’s file-upload guidance.
| Upload or content type | Published formats or limit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, HTML, ODT, RTF, EPUB, JSON, and XLSX | XLSX requires Code execution and file creation to be enabled. |
| Images | JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP | Confirm the image is in a listed format. |
| Chat attachments | 500 MB per file and up to 20 files per chat (Claude Help Center, 2026) | Check both the individual file size and the number of files in the chat. |
| Project files | 30 MB per file (Claude Help Center, 2026); total content is constrained by Claude’s context window | Project files have a separate per-file limit from chat attachments. |
| PDF attachments | Up to 1,000 pages (Claude Help Center, 2026) | PDFs over 1,000 pages cannot be uploaded. |
| Artifact stored data | 20 MB per Artifact; text only (Claude Help Center, current guidance accessed 2026-10-05) | Artifact storage does not accept images, files, or binary data; this is distinct from chat upload size. |
Understand what Claude extracts from documents
For PDFs up to 100 pages, Claude analyzes text and visual elements. For PDFs from 101 to 1,000 pages, it processes text only. Non-PDF documents are text-extracted, so embedded images in those files are not interpreted. If a chart or picture from a document is missing, check the file type and PDF page range before diagnosing the Artifact display.

Separate consumer uploads from developer Files API errors
The Files API is a developer workflow, not another name for attaching a file in the Claude app. Anthropic’s API documentation says uploaded files are workspace-scoped and cannot be downloaded through that API; files created by skills or the code-execution tool can be downloadable. Its API errors include missing or inaccessible file IDs and mismatches between file type and content block. These details matter when troubleshooting an application built with the API, but they are not instructions for a consumer Claude upload. See Anthropic’s Files API documentation.
When an Artifact stays blank or spins
If there is no visible error and the Artifact remains blank or loads indefinitely, the official guidance cited here does not establish a universal cause or a guaranteed browser-side remedy. Avoid assuming that a specific browser setting, cache change, or file problem is responsible. Note whether the symptom occurs on web, desktop, or mobile; whether it affects one Artifact or several; and whether it reproduces for another authorized viewer. If the built-in error handoff is absent or unsuccessful, contact Claude support with those details.
