To query BitLocker Management (MBAM) events across Configuration Manager clients, use CMPivot’s EventLog() entity with the verified name of the target client’s MBAM channel, then filter by event ID. Microsoft documents the general event-log query pattern, but its examples do not provide a ready-made MBAM query. Treat the query below as a starting template: confirm the channel string and returned column names in your current-branch CMPivot session before relying on its results.
Start with the MBAM channel on a client
On a client where a BitLocker Management policy is deployed, open Windows Event Viewer and navigate to Applications and Services Logs → Microsoft → Windows → MBAM. The MBAM node contains the Admin and Operational channels. Microsoft documents this location and the channel event meanings in its BitLocker Management client event-log reference.
Confirm the exact channel name as exposed to CMPivot on your clients. The Event Viewer path establishes where the logs are, but Microsoft’s reviewed CMPivot examples do not guarantee the exact MBAM channel string accepted by EventLog().
Use this illustrative CMPivot template
Microsoft documents EventLog() as a CMPivot entity and demonstrates filtering an event log by event ID with EventLog('Security') | where EventID == 4673. That example illustrates the query pattern; it is not an MBAM-specific query. Start with this template only after verifying the channel name and properties in your CMPivot session:

| order by TimeGenerated descCheck CMPivot IntelliSense or run a suitably broad query and inspect its results to confirm that the channel string is accepted and that TimeGenerated and Message are actual returned property names. If your results expose different names, adjust the project and order by clauses accordingly. The template is illustrative, not a verified drop-in query. Microsoft’s general event-log example is in its CMPivot sample scripts; CMPivot’s supported entities and real-time behavior are described in the CMPivot overview.
Choose event IDs for the troubleshooting question
Admin and Operational events are not interchangeable. Choose the channel and IDs that match whether you are investigating policy application, status transfer, or recovery-key activity.

For a success or escrow check, substitute the relevant IDs, such as 1, 29, and 30, in the filter. For failures, retain the IDs that correspond to the symptom: Admin event 2 covers policy-application errors, Operational events 41 and 42 cover specific policy-application blockers, and Operational event 43 concerns status transfer. Understand what CMPivot results cover
CMPivot queries the real-time state of currently connected devices in the selected collection, using a subset of Kusto Query Language. A query result is therefore not a complete historical archive of every device or every event: disconnected clients cannot return live results for that run. Use the collection scope and event filter deliberately. A narrow ID filter helps focus a specific failure or success path; a broader query can help discover which events are present, but you still need to verify the returned properties and channel on the target clients. For an individual client’s event details, use Event Viewer’s MBAM Admin and Operational logs.
