For small-to-medium single-page apps where I review the generated changes, I find explicit frontend code easier to hand to a coding agent than a framework-heavy setup. That is my experience, not proof that frameworks are worse or that agents cannot work with Vue or Angular. The deciding factors are whether an agent can trace behavior in the files it reads, verify it with checks and tests, and leave a diff a person can confidently review.
Why framework behavior can be hard for an agent to trace
In my workflow, an agent’s practical feedback loop often means reading files, searching for names, running type checks, and running tests. Some behavior is less apparent in that loop: scheduling, reactive dependencies, or change detection may depend on runtime mechanisms that are not obvious from the code the agent has inspected. When the agent has incomplete evidence, it can produce a plausible change without a clear account of what caused the behavior.
That does not make Vue or Angular inherently unsuitable for agents. It means I care about three properties when deciding how much framework machinery to put between a change and its observable result:
- Failure locality: the cause of a bug should be near the file where its symptom appears, rather than hidden in a scheduler, dependency graph, or zone.
- Greppability: events and connections should have names that can be searched across the code that produces and consumes them.
- Reviewability: a diff should show the intended behavior clearly enough for a human—or an agent—to inspect it.
These are design criteria I use, not measured performance results. My argument is about making behavior easier to follow in the workflow I use, not establishing that one category of frontend code is objectively better.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Explicit code needs more than a small codebase
Making code direct and searchable is not enough by itself. My approach also relies on support around the code so an agent can learn local conventions, notice failures, and test behavior without relying on someone to click through the interface.
Short skills for predictable mistakes
In my setup, short skill files load before an agent starts and focus on patterns I have found agents get wrong by habit. The deeper documentation remains the reference for APIs and mechanisms. In a follow-up, I described the boundary this way: “Would an agent that never read this produce code that compiles, type-checks and does nothing? Skill. Would it merely not know a name? Docs.” That is my rule of thumb, not a general standard.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
I also describe npx @relax.js/core init-agents as a setup command that writes seven skill files covering areas including the core model, templates, forms, routing, services, testing, and setup. Those are details of my own library and workflow.
Errors that are visible and actionable
A template path that does not resolve can otherwise produce an empty string, leaving the failure easy to miss. In @relax.js/core, I route such failures through an error channel; a test helper can turn that channel into assertions. The point is to make a failed assumption visible to the agent and the test, rather than letting it look like successful output.

A checker for template expressions
I describe npx @relax.js/core check as resolving template expressions against TypeScript types at the call site and reporting compiler-style messages. In my view, it closes much of the gap I see with Angular template checking without adding a compiler to the build. That is a claim about my tool, not an independently verified comparison.
Test seams instead of manual clicking
I use mount(), flush(), fakeServer(), and mountRouting() as test seams so an agent can verify behavior with Vitest rather than depend on a person manually exercising the interface. Together, these practices are why I do not treat explicitness as a substitute for tooling: the code needs feedback that tells the agent whether its understanding was right.

When I would still pick a framework
I would keep Vue or Angular when the application or team benefits more from their established conventions and runtime model than from the directness I want for agent-driven changes. In particular, I see three cases where a framework may be the better choice:
- Agent first-draft correctness matters most. If the priority is getting a usable first draft from an agent without loading project-specific skills, an established framework may be the more familiar choice.
- State is deeply interdependent. If many parts of the application depend on shared, tightly connected state, the framework’s abstractions may suit the problem better than keeping each update explicit.
- Server-side rendering is required. If SSR is a requirement, that weighs toward a framework rather than the small-to-medium SPA context I am describing.
The practical distinction is not “frameworks versus agents.” It is whether the application’s requirements, the agent’s available context, and the review process make behavior easy enough to understand and verify.

What this argument does—and does not—establish
This is a first-person engineering argument based on my work with Vue, Angular, and my own @relax.js/core library. It is not a controlled comparison: I report no benchmark, sample size, measured productivity figure, or error-rate result. My conclusion is narrower: for small-to-medium SPAs where I review the generated diff, I prefer code whose behavior is explicit, searchable, and testable, backed by short skills, visible errors, a checker, and test seams.
