To keep multiple Google Accounts in separate Chrome browser spaces on a computer, create a different Chrome profile for each account or context. In Chrome, select the profile icon at the top right, choose Add Chrome profile, then decide whether to sign in to Chrome with the Google Account for that profile. A profile separates browser data; simply signing in to a Google service with a second account does not create a separate browser space.
What a Chrome profile does
A Chrome profile is a separate browser space with its own bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings. It is useful when you want work and personal browsing kept distinct or when different people use the same computer.
Signing in to Chrome with a Google Account is optional when adding a profile. When you do sign in, supported profile data can be saved to that account and made available on other devices where you sign in to the same account. This is different from signing in to a second Google Account on a website: that may let you use another account for that service, but it does not give you a separate set of Chrome bookmarks, history, and settings.
Create and switch desktop Chrome profiles
- Open Chrome on your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer.
- Select the profile icon at the top right, then choose Add Chrome profile.
- If prompted, choose whether to sign in to Chrome with the Google Account you want associated with this profile. When you sign in, Chrome may use the account name as the profile name.
- Choose a recognizable profile name, photo, and color scheme to distinguish its windows from your other profiles.
- To switch later, select the profile icon and choose the profile you want to use. Chrome’s profile settings can also let you show profiles at startup.
Choose separate profiles when you want distinct browser data and settings. If you only need to access another Google account in one service for a short time, you may be able to sign in to that service without creating a profile.

Choose between profiles, Guest mode, or another account in a service

Important privacy limits on shared computers
Profiles help organize and separate Chrome data, but they do not prevent another person who can use the device from switching profiles and viewing information such as visited sites. Google advises sharing a device only with people you trust. Do not rely on profiles as private, locked compartments.
Guest mode clears its local browsing activity when you exit, but it does not make browsing anonymous or hide activity from websites, an employer or school operating the network, an internet provider, or other parties that can observe network activity.

How Chrome account options differ by device
Windows, Mac, and Linux
Desktop Chrome supports adding, switching, editing, and deleting profiles. Removing a profile deletes its local bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings from that computer.
Android
Google says an Android device can have only one Chrome profile. To let another person use Chrome, add that person as a user of the Android device and switch device users; desktop profile-creation steps do not apply.

iPhone and iPad
Chrome for iPhone and iPad supports adding and switching Google Accounts. For an organization-managed work account, Chrome may offer a separate work space. This account and work-space flow is not the same as the desktop profile picker.
Work- or school-managed Chrome
An administrator may control whether you can add profiles, use secondary Google Accounts, or use Guest mode. If an option is missing or an account is blocked, ask your organization’s administrator whether policy restricts it.
