Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If your application must send password-reset messages through its own email API and cannot use webhooks, choose an authentication provider that exposes a reset credential—such as a ticket or link—to your backend without sending the email itself. These are separate decisions: who creates the reset credential, who controls the message, and who delivers it. Among the documented options below, Auth0’s password-change ticket flow is the clearest fit for external delivery; Supabase’s email hook depends on a callback, while the cited Firebase and Clerk flows do not establish application-owned delivery through an arbitrary email API.
What “custom password-reset email” needs to mean
Editing a subject line or message body does not necessarily give your application control of delivery. An authentication provider may let you customize a template while continuing to send the message itself. For direct sending through your chosen email API, your backend needs access to the reset credential and must be able to send it without the authentication provider calling your service.
- Credential generation: Does the provider create a reset link, ticket, token, or code without automatically sending the email?
- Template ownership: Can your application define the complete message, including subject and body?
- Delivery ownership: Can your backend submit the message directly to its email API?
- Callback requirements: Does the design require a webhook or other provider-to-application request?
For this comparison, “no webhooks” means the authentication provider must not call an application endpoint as part of reset-email delivery. A design where your backend calls the authentication API and then calls the email API is a different flow.
How the documented options compare
| Provider or flow | Template ownership | Who sends the email? | Fit for a strict no-webhook requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase Send Email Hook | Your hook handler can implement the message content. | The hook handler can send through an external provider. | No. Supabase describes this as a hook that replaces built-in email sending. |
| Supabase native auth templates | Configurable recovery template with URL and token variables. | Supabase’s auth email delivery path. | Template configuration is supported, but the cited documentation does not establish direct arbitrary email-API delivery without a hook. |
| Auth0 password-change ticket | Your application can compose the outbound message around the generated ticket URL. | Your application can deliver it through its chosen communication channel. | Strongest documented fit here: Auth0 describes generating the ticket for the organization to deliver externally. |
| Auth0 customized email template | Liquid-editable template. | An external SMTP provider configured for Auth0. | Not evidence of direct email-API delivery. The documented template path requires external SMTP. |
| Firebase Auth reset email | Template selection and customization in the Firebase console. | Firebase’s password-reset email flow. | The cited documentation does not show handing a generated reset link to an application-owned mail API. |
| Clerk custom forgot-password flow | The cited page explains custom UI and code entry, not an application-owned message template. | Clerk sends an email or SMS code in the documented flow. | The cited documentation does not establish arbitrary external email-API delivery without callbacks. |
Which option fits a no-webhook design?
Auth0: generate a ticket, then send it yourself
Auth0 documents a password-change ticket endpoint that generates a ticket URL for the organization to deliver through another channel. That separates ticket generation from message delivery, letting your application control the email content and send it through its chosen API. See Auth0’s Management API guidance for email and ticket handling.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Keep this ticket flow distinct from Auth0’s customizable email-template feature. The template documentation says customized templates require an external SMTP provider and are unavailable with Auth0’s built-in email provider. SMTP configuration is not the same thing as a documented direct integration with an arbitrary email API; confirm whether your chosen email service offers an SMTP option or bridge before relying on that route. See Auth0’s email template documentation.
Supabase: native templates or an HTTP hook
Supabase offers editable authentication email templates, including a recovery template with URL and token variables. That gives you template configuration, but the cited documentation does not show that native templates send through an arbitrary email API without a hook. See Supabase’s auth email template guide.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Supabase’s Send Email Hook replaces built-in email sending and can be used to call an external provider. That can provide delivery flexibility, and Supabase publishes a React Email and Resend example, but the mechanism is still an HTTP hook. It does not meet a strict prohibition on webhook-style callbacks. See Supabase’s Send Email Hook documentation.
Firebase and Clerk: do not infer a direct-send API
Firebase documents an SDK flow that sends the password-reset email and allows template customization in the console. The cited page does not demonstrate returning a generated reset link to your application for delivery through your own mail API. See Firebase’s Manage Users documentation.

Clerk’s cited custom forgot-password guide describes a flow using a code sent by email or phone, with custom UI and code entry. It does not establish that your application can obtain the code and deliver it through an arbitrary email API without a callback. See Clerk’s custom forgot-password flow guide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to verify a candidate before implementation
- Write the acceptance test first: Can your backend request a reset credential without the provider sending an email, then send it through your selected email API without a provider-to-application callback? If either answer is no, the design does not meet the requirement.
- Verify the credential lifecycle: Check the current endpoint documentation for expiry, single-use behavior, audience restrictions, allowed redirects, and how the final password update is validated. Do not assume these details from a template guide or a general reset-flow page.
- Trace the whole delivery path: Identify which service generates the credential, which component builds the message, which system sends it, and whether any step invokes a webhook or requires SMTP.
- Check operational constraints: Confirm tenant and plan availability, configuration requirements, redirect controls, and abuse-prevention or rate-limit behavior in current provider documentation.
- Test the complete flow in your intended configuration: Confirm the recipient can complete the reset, that links resolve to the intended destination, and that the application—not an undocumented provider behavior—owns the delivery step.
The cited documentation does not establish reset-token expiry, single-use rules, redirect restrictions, or rate limits consistently across these providers. Verify those specifics in current endpoint-level documentation before implementation. This is a documentation-based comparison, not a hands-on test; availability and integrations may change.
