The Dell Alienware AW3425DW is a strong fit if you want a fast, curved 21:9 gaming display with QD-OLED contrast and color. Its main trade-offs are equally specific: 3440 × 1440 is not 4K, the ultrawide format can be a poor match for some games and workflows, and OLED ownership calls for attention to current care and warranty terms. Dell rates it at 240Hz, but those specifications alone do not guarantee that every source and connection will deliver the maximum mode.
What the AW3425DW offers
Dell calls the AW3425DW the Alienware 34 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor. Its 34.2-inch screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 1800R curve, and 3440 × 1440 resolution—an ultrawide WQHD format, not 4K. Dell’s guide lists a density of 110 pixels per inch (PPI). Dell’s AW3425DW user guide is the primary reference for its ratings and connections.
Pros
High refresh rate and variable-refresh support
Dell rates the panel at 240Hz and lists a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. The guide also lists AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, HDMI 2.1 VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, and VESA AdaptiveSync Display support. These are specification and compatibility claims, not a promise that any computer, console, cable, or input combination can run at 3440 × 1440 and 240Hz. Confirm the source device and connection requirements before buying.
QD-OLED contrast and wide color
The QD-OLED panel is the central image-quality draw. Dell specifies a 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio and 99.30% typical DCI-P3 coverage; it also lists average Delta E below 2 for sRGB and DCI-P3. These are manufacturer specifications, rather than independent measurements cited here. Independent reviews place the model in the premium 34-inch QD-OLED gaming category, including coverage from RTINGS and Tom’s Hardware.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Wide, curved screen for games and desktop space
The 21:9 aspect ratio gives compatible games a wider view and provides more horizontal desktop room than a conventional 16:9 screen. The 1800R curve is part of the format’s immersive presentation. Whether that wider view is useful depends on the game: not every title or interface makes the same use of 21:9.
Several display inputs and a USB hub
The monitor has two HDMI 2.1 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4 input, plus USB-B upstream, USB-A downstream, and USB-C downstream with up to 15W charging. Dell specifies HDMI 2.1 up to 3440 × 1440 at 240Hz with FRL, HDR, and VRR; DisplayPort 1.4 is specified for that resolution and refresh with DSC and HDR. Those are input capabilities, not a guarantee about a particular connected device. Check its output support and the manual’s mode requirements. The screen coating is listed as anti-reflection.

Cons and trade-offs
Not a high-density 4K desktop display
At 3440 × 1440 and 110 PPI, it offers less pixel density than a 4K display of similar size. That can matter if your priority is very fine text or detailed desktop work, particularly at a close viewing distance. PCWorld also identifies the AW3425DW’s 3440 × 1440, approximately 110-PPI format: PCWorld’s review.
HDR figures describe different conditions
Dell lists typical brightness of 250 cd/m² and an HDR peak of 1000 cd/m² at a 3% average picture level (APL)—a small bright area, not the whole screen. It also lists VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. These figures describe different brightness contexts and should not be read as a uniform 1000-cd/m² screen rating.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

OLED care and warranty deserve a check
The AW3425DW is an OLED display, but the sources cited here do not establish a model-specific burn-in rate or lifespan. Before purchase, read Dell’s current warranty and care terms for your region, especially if the screen will show static desktop elements for long periods. No specific coverage duration or burn-in promise is asserted here.
Ultrawide resolution increases graphics workload
Rendering 3440 × 1440 requires more pixels than conventional 2560 × 1440, so reaching high frame rates can take more graphics performance; the actual result depends on the game and hardware. The resolution and aspect ratio are documented specifications, while this performance implication is a practical inference, not a benchmark result for a particular GPU.

It is not the newest model in the family
2026 coverage discusses the AW3426DW as a successor generation. That does not by itself establish which model is the better purchase: compare the two models’ actual specifications, regional prices, availability, and support before deciding. Tom’s Guide has covered the newer family model: Tom’s Guide’s AW3426DW coverage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy the AW3425DW?
- Consider it if you want a 34-inch curved ultrawide for gaming, value QD-OLED contrast and color, and can use the 240Hz mode with your hardware.
- Compare alternatives if fine text, higher pixel density, or 4K detail matters more than the wider gaming view.
- Check compatibility first if you need a particular refresh rate from a PC or console; verify its output capabilities against Dell’s input specifications.
- Compare current-generation options if you are choosing strictly on value or want the newest model. Pricing and availability vary by region and date, and no current price is established here.
Refresh rate alone is not a decisive reason to choose this model: PCWorld notes that competing 34-inch 240Hz QD-OLED monitors can offer similar motion clarity. Compare resolution and density, panel care and warranty, adaptive-sync compatibility, HDR specifications and measurement conditions, input modes, and current regional price—not just the headline 240Hz figure.
