It can be a good fit for interfaces with substantial reusable UI, changing state, and frequent interaction, but content-focused pages can work well as plain HTML or with a static-site approach. And choosing React does not mean every page must be a client-rendered app: rendering can be matched to each route and its needs.
What React does—and what it does not require
React helps developers build user interfaces from components. A site can use those components to manage interactive parts of a page, but it does not need React merely to show text, images, and links. MDN describes static-site approaches as an option, including sites that use a framework selectively rather than powering every page with it: MDN’s guide to getting started with React.
React’s current guidance recommends starting a new React app or website with a framework. Starting from scratch remains possible, but then the team needs to choose how to handle common needs such as routing and data fetching. The framework recommendation is guidance for projects that have chosen React; it does not mean every website needs React in the first place. See React’s “Creating a React App” guidance.
When React is likely to earn its place
React becomes more useful as a site’s interface needs more coordinated behavior. Consider it when users repeatedly change what they see or do without full-page loads, or when the same interactive interface appears in multiple places. Examples include a filterable catalog, a multi-step form, a live dashboard, or a complex editor. These are reasons to evaluate React, not rules that mandate it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Changing state: The interface must keep track of user choices and update related parts of the page.
- Reusable interface pieces: Similar interactive elements appear across routes or need consistent behavior.
- Browser-dependent features: The experience relies on APIs or behavior available in the browser.
- Frequent in-page interaction: Users benefit from changing the interface without navigating through a full page load each time.
For simpler pages, those capabilities may not justify the extra framework structure and JavaScript. A page whose main purpose is to present stable content may be better served by HTML or a static-site setup.
React does not mean client-rendering every page
Rendering describes where and when the page’s HTML is produced. React can be used with several approaches, and a site can use different approaches for different routes. React’s app guidance discusses client-side rendering, single-page apps, static-site generation, and server rendering, including applying server rendering route by route: React’s rendering and framework guidance.

| Approach | Where the page is prepared | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Static HTML or static-site generation | HTML is prepared ahead of a user request and served as files. | Content is known in advance and does not need request-time rendering. |
| Server rendering | The server generates HTML to send to the browser. | Request-time output is useful, or a route benefits from receiving generated HTML. |
| Client-side rendering (CSR) | The browser runs JavaScript to render the page or application. | Client-side interaction or browser-dependent behavior is central to the experience. |
These are options, not mutually exclusive site-wide identities. For example, a site can prebuild its editorial pages and reserve browser-side React behavior for a genuinely interactive tool.
What the rendering choices mean for visitors
Static output
Static HTML is prepared before the visitor’s request. React itself can produce static markup: its renderToStaticMarkup reference describes non-interactive output for static pages or emails. It also notes that interactive apps need a different server-rendering and hydration approach. Using React in a build step, therefore, does not necessarily mean shipping a client-side React application to visitors.

Client-side rendering
With CSR, the browser receives a minimal HTML page and JavaScript, then runs that code to render the page. The browser must download, parse, and execute JavaScript before the full page is rendered. Subsequent in-site navigation can be faster, but the initial-load tradeoff depends on the implementation and on users’ devices and network conditions; the documented mechanism is not a universal performance benchmark. See Next.js’s explanation of client-side rendering.
Server Components, Client Components, and hydration in Next.js
Next.js illustrates how a React site can limit client-side code. In the App Router, pages and layouts are Server Components by default. Client Components are used for features such as state, event handlers, lifecycle logic, and browser APIs. Hydration is the process by which React attaches event handlers to server-rendered HTML so it becomes interactive. These are Next.js concepts; they describe one framework’s model, not a requirement for all React sites. The Next.js Server and Client Components guide was last updated March 16, 2026.

How to choose for a particular site
- List the pages and their main jobs. Separate content pages from tools or experiences where users change data, choices, or views.
- Identify which interactions need coordinated state. If a page mostly presents information, start by asking whether HTML and a static-site approach are enough. If it has complex, reusable interaction, evaluate React for that part.
- Choose rendering by route. Consider prebuilt output for content known ahead of time, server rendering where request-time output is useful, and client rendering where browser-side interaction is important.
- Account for the initial load. If the chosen route relies on CSR, remember that the browser processes JavaScript before the full page is rendered. Evaluate that cost for the audience’s devices and network conditions rather than relying on a blanket speed claim.
- Weigh framework convenience against control. A React framework supplies structure and common features; building from scratch gives more flexibility but leaves choices such as routing and data fetching to the project team.
A practical decision is to use the smallest approach that meets the site’s interaction and delivery needs, adding React where it solves a concrete interface problem. That may mean no React, React for selected components, or a React framework with different rendering choices for different routes.
