One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchConnect each device to a separate HDMI input on your TV if you have enough ports. If you have more devices than inputs, connect them to an HDMI switch and run the switch’s output to one TV input. An AV receiver is another option when you also need to route audio to a home-theater system.
Choose the right connection method
| Setup | What to do | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Enough HDMI inputs on the TV | Connect each device directly to a separate input. | A simple setup without extra hardware. |
| More devices than TV inputs | Connect the devices to an HDMI switch, then connect the switch’s output to a TV input. | Adding sources while keeping the TV’s existing connections. |
| Multiple sources and a home-theater audio system | Connect sources through an AV receiver, then connect the receiver to the TV. | A setup that needs audio routing as well as additional HDMI inputs. |
A switch selects one source at a time; it does not show all connected devices on the screen simultaneously. Choose a switch with enough inputs for your current devices and any likely additions. An AV receiver can add configuration and should be chosen for its audio and video compatibility as well as its input count. LG’s guide describes connecting sources through an audio receiver and selecting the matching TV and receiver inputs: LG USA Support.
Check ports and features before connecting
Count the inputs and identify ARC/eARC
Check the TV’s HDMI labels and count the inputs that are actually available for sources. If you use a soundbar or receiver for TV audio, note which port is labeled ARC or eARC; it may occupy one of the TV’s HDMI inputs. Port assignments vary by model. For example, Sony’s guide for a particular TV identifies HDMI 3 as its ARC/eARC port, which should not be assumed for other TVs: Sony Help Guide.
Match the whole signal path
Check the TV, source devices, and any switch or receiver for the video resolution and refresh rate, HDR, audio formats, and gaming features you plan to use. A feature works only if the components in its signal path support it. Switch specifications differ: Vogel’s lists models with 18 Gbps or 48 Gbps bandwidth and varying support for features including 4K/120Hz, 8K/60Hz, VRR, and ARC. These are vendor-published specifications, not independent test results: Vogel’s comparison sheet.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Consider how you will select devices
With direct connections, select the TV input that matches the connected device. A switch may use a button, remote, or automatic switching, depending on the model. An AV receiver generally requires selecting the matching receiver input as well as the TV input. Check how the hardware handles input selection and whether it needs separate power or a remote.
Connect multiple HDMI devices
- Count your sources and available TV inputs. Identify the ARC/eARC port first if a soundbar or receiver will return audio from the TV.
- Connect sources directly when you have enough inputs. Plug each device into its own TV input and note the input number for each.
- Add a switch or receiver if you are short on inputs. Connect each source to an input on the switch or receiver, then connect its HDMI output to a free TV input.
- Turn on the devices and select the source. On the TV, choose the input used by the device or by the switch/receiver. If using an AV receiver, also select the source’s input on the receiver.
- Configure TV audio if needed. For sound through a soundbar or receiver, connect the audio system to the ARC/eARC ports at both ends and enable the required settings. Follow the manuals for your specific devices.
- Enable CEC if you want shared controls. Turn it on for compatible devices if you want features such as remote or power control; names and menus vary by brand.
For a particular Sony model, the manufacturer says a compatible ARC connection uses one High Speed HDMI cable between the TV’s ARC input and the audio system’s ARC output. Sony lists optical or analog audio as alternatives when either device lacks ARC: Sony USA Support. Cable requirements for other connections depend on the signal’s capabilities.

Understand ARC/eARC and CEC
ARC and eARC carry audio from a TV to a connected soundbar or receiver over a compatible HDMI connection. Connect the cable to the ports labeled ARC/eARC on both devices, then enable the relevant audio-return settings. Supported audio formats and menu names depend on the models. Sony’s guide describes its model’s eARC support as including up to 192 kHz/24-bit uncompressed multichannel audio; this is a model-specific specification, not a general guarantee for every TV: Sony Help Guide.
CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) lets compatible devices share commands over HDMI, which can reduce the need to use multiple remotes. Roku explains CEC in its HDMI-CEC and ARC setup guide. Manufacturers use different names for CEC, including Samsung Anynet+, LG SIMPLINK, and Sony BRAVIA Sync. Compatibility and behavior vary, so CEC is optional rather than a requirement for displaying a picture.

Troubleshoot a missing picture or sound
- Check the selected input. Confirm that the TV is set to the port used by the source or switch. If a receiver is in the path, verify its selected input too.
- Check connections and port labels. Reseat the HDMI cable at both ends. For TV-return audio, make sure the cable is connected to the ARC/eARC-labeled ports rather than ordinary HDMI ports.
- Check feature compatibility. If a particular resolution, refresh rate, HDR setting, audio format, or gaming feature does not work, verify that the TV, source, and switch or receiver all support it.
- Recheck device order and control settings. If CEC switching or power control is unreliable, review the settings on both devices and the connection order. Roku also recommends checking device software updates in its HDMI settings guide.
- Consult the model manuals. Exact ports, settings, and supported formats vary. Use the TV and audio-device manuals for their specific connection steps.
When an HDMI switch example may fit

Treat these as the manufacturer’s listed capabilities and check whether they match the TV and sources in your setup: OREI BK-401ARC manual.
