Windows
The installation page describes running the Windows setup program. Follow the instructions accompanying the package you download.
Linux
Linux installation depends on the distribution and its Qt availability. The project documents distribution-specific package or archive approaches. Its instructions note that recent Debian and Ubuntu releases no longer provide Qt 4 through the cited repositories, and describe archives bundling required libraries. Check the guidance for your distribution before choosing a package; one generic install command would not apply to every Linux system.

The documented approach is to open the disk image in Finder and install from there. Check the download page for the package currently offered for your system.
What is BOUML’s release status?
The official download page labels version 7.11 the final release and notes that patch 4 is available for some distributions. Those details do not mean every operating system has the same package or patch. Verify the listing for your platform directly on the official download page.

How current is the BOUML documentation?
The English reference manual was last revised in June 2018 for release 7.6, while the download page identifies 7.11 as the final release. Treat the manual as useful reference material, but be alert to differences between its version and the release you install. The documentation index offers online HTML, downloadable archives, PDF versions in A4 and US Letter formats, tutorials, and videos.
The documentation index specifically describes the modeler tutorial for BOUML 3.1 as very old and recommends videos as a better option. That warning concerns the tutorial, not every item in the documentation collection.
