Yes—but with Elanat WebForms Core, C does not replace HTML or run in the browser. The page is HTML, a server-side class written in C handles requests, and the WebFormsJS JavaScript runtime applies commands from the server to the page. The project lists a C implementation, but its repository landing page does not establish a verified, runnable C setup or deployment.
What “building a web page with C” means here
Elanat WebForms Core connects server-side code to an HTML page through a two-way protocol. The server sends Action Control commands in its response; WebFormsJS interprets them in the browser and changes the page’s DOM. The browser still uses HTML and JavaScript, while C is intended to handle server-side work.
This is not Microsoft ASP.NET Web Forms. Microsoft’s documentation describes an ASP.NET .aspx model with page directives and server controls, which is a different technology: Microsoft ASP.NET Web Forms documentation.
How the page and server work together
- Start with HTML. Create a conventional page with a form and include the WebFormsJS client runtime.
- Handle the request on the server. A WebForms class for the server language receives submitted form data.
- Build a command response. The server returns instructions in a documented INI-like format beginning with
[web-forms]. - Apply the changes in the browser. WebFormsJS interprets the commands and updates the DOM, for example by changing text, styles, or attributes, or by adding or deleting elements.
The WebFormsJS repository describes the library as “the client-side runtime of WebForms Core.” Its documentation also describes form submissions and DOM operations. What the project establishes about its C implementation
The WebForms Classes repository identifies itself as WebForms Core’s back end and lists language-specific directories, including C, alongside implementations such as C++, Go, Java, Node.js, PHP, Python, and Rust. This supports the claim that the project includes a C implementation. WebForms Classes repository.
The README’s detailed worked example is in C#, not C. The presence of a C directory does not, by itself, show which functions to call, how to compile or integrate the code with a server, what operating systems it supports, or whether a complete C-based page has been built and deployed. Those specifics are not established by the repository landing-page information.

What you need to verify before starting a C project
- Inspect the C implementation for its entry points, dependencies, and instructions before designing your server around it.
- Confirm how it receives HTTP requests and form data, and how it returns the WebForms response.
- Check the required compiler, build steps, operating-system support, and server integration in the implementation’s own documentation.
- Test the complete flow: submit a form, receive it in the C server, return a command response, and confirm WebFormsJS changes the page.
Until those implementation-specific details are confirmed, treat WebForms Core’s C listing as evidence of an available language implementation—not proof of a ready-to-run or production-supported deployment. The project documentation does establish the overall architecture and demonstrates its workflow with a C# example, but that example should not be presented as C code.
