Install it with npm install colorette, import the style functions you need, and wrap the text you want to format. You can also create functions that force color on or off, or use the package’s documented command-line and environment controls.
Install Colorette and print styled text
Install the package in your project with npm install colorette. The project’s npm listing and README show this basic pattern:

console.log(bold(blue('Bold blue text')));Each function returns a string with terminal styling codes around its text. Colorette does not change the terminal’s theme; the terminal interprets those codes when it displays the output. The README also demonstrates using styles in template literals:

The README lists these styling functions. Strikethrough is crossed out in its table, so it is not included here as a supported style.

Control whether output uses color
Colorette documents automatic color-support detection, plus ways to opt out or request color. Its README names the --no-color and --color command-line flags and the NO_COLOR and FORCE_COLOR environment variables. These are the package’s documented controls; the result can depend on how the program is launched and the terminal or shell environment.

For a direct choice in application code, use createColors({ useColor }) to create style functions with color enabled or disabled. Use isColorSupported when you need to inspect Colorette’s detected support state.

console.log('Detected color support:', isColorSupported);Setting useColor: false gives the functions created by createColors an explicit plain-output mode. This is useful when output is redirected to a file, consumed by another program, or intended to be read without terminal styling.

Compatibility, dependencies, and license
The package documentation states TypeScript support and Node.js version 10 or later. The npm listing surfaced version 2.0.20 and reports zero runtime dependencies; these are listing and documentation details, not independent compatibility tests. The project identifies its license as MIT. Check the current npm page for the version and package details available when you install.

Colorette is a focused option when you want named functions for styling terminal strings, automatic support detection, and documented ways to disable or force color. When choosing among terminal-styling packages, compare the API you would need to migrate, runtime and module compatibility, dependency footprint, styling features, and opt-out behavior.
