GoSync is an open-source Google Drive client for Linux, written in Python. Its documented approach is to mirror all of your Drive content locally, monitor that mirror for newly created files, and upload those files. It does not offer selective folder syncing, and its README says regular sync runs every 10 minutes on a fixed schedule. Its latest listed PyPI release dates to 2021, so compatibility with current Python and Google Drive setups remains unverified.
What GoSync does
GoSync describes itself as a Linux client that synchronizes Google Drive content to a local mirror. The project README says, “It syncs everything from the Google Drive.” It also says sync is on by default and can be paused or resumed from a “Pause/Resume Sync” menu item. The README describes a local-to-cloud action as well: GoSync monitors the local mirror and uploads a newly created local file immediately. That is not the same as a documented guarantee of complete, conflict-safe two-way synchronization. The available project description does not explain how it handles edits, deletions, renames, or conflicts, so users should not assume those cases work in a particular way.
Sync behavior and limitations
Full Drive, not selected folders
GoSync’s documented behavior is to sync all Drive content. The README explicitly says users cannot choose particular directories to sync. This may be unsuitable if you need to limit local disk use or keep certain Drive folders off a Linux machine. GoSync project README

Fixed regular sync interval
The project says regular synchronization runs every 10 minutes and that the interval is not configurable. Separately, it describes newly created local files as being uploaded immediately when detected. These are project-stated behaviors, not independent timing tests. GoSync project README
Other stated limitation
The README also notes that calculating Drive usage may take time without displaying progress. Its mention that limitations “will be fixed in future versions” does not establish that later fixes were released. GoSync project README

Installing GoSync and current compatibility
The README says GoSync can be installed with pip install GoSync from version 0.3 onward and points readers to the project wiki for installing the latest source and enabling the Google Drive API. However, PyPI lists 0.53, released April 3, 2021, as the latest release; its metadata marks the project Alpha and includes a Python 3.6 classifier. Those are dated package details, not proof that the project is maintained or that it fails on newer systems. GoSync on PyPI
Google’s current Python Drive API quickstart requires Python 3.10.7 or newer. That requirement applies to Google’s current sample, not specifically to GoSync, and does not establish whether GoSync works with modern Python, OAuth flows, or the current Drive API. For context, Google’s quickstart for building a new Python API application calls for pip, a Google Cloud project, and a Google account with Drive enabled. It walks developers through enabling the Drive API and creating OAuth 2.0 credentials for a desktop application. Google describes the simplified authorization approach as suitable for testing and recommends understanding authentication and authorization before selecting credentials for production. Its sample uses current Google client libraries, stores tokens locally, and lists files through Drive API v3; none of that demonstrates that this older GoSync package uses the same setup or remains compatible. GoSync’s documented model may suit someone who wants a Linux client to mirror the whole Drive and is comfortable investigating an older Python package. It is a poor fit if you need selective folder sync, a configurable polling interval, or clear documented behavior for deletions and conflicts. Because the latest PyPI release is dated 2021 and current compatibility is not established, check the project documentation and test carefully with nonessential files before relying on it for important data.
