If your Zenbook only gets a blue screen when you use Zoom, the timing is a clue—not proof that Zoom caused the crash. A Windows stop error can involve hardware, a device driver, or software, and ASUS also identifies Windows packages and compatibility issues among possible causes. Start by recording the exact stop code and any “What failed” filename before trying broad fixes. (Microsoft; ASUS)

What a Zoom-timed blue screen does—and does not—tell you

A crash during a Zoom meeting establishes when the problem occurs, but not its root cause. The fault could involve Zoom, Windows, a driver, hardware, or an interaction among them. ASUS and Microsoft provide general Windows 10/11 troubleshooting guidance, but no official advisory establishes a known defect for a particular Zenbook model and Zoom version. Without your model, Windows build, Zoom version, stop code, and crash details, the specific cause remains undetermined.

Keep two kinds of symptoms separate: a camera that freezes or is not detected is a Zoom video problem; a full Windows stop screen is a system crash. Zoom’s camera advice can help with the first, but it does not diagnose the second.

Record the evidence before changing anything

  • Photograph or transcribe the full stop code and any “What failed” module or filename. Microsoft says this information can help identify the code being executed when the error occurred.
  • Write down the Zenbook model, Windows version and build, Zoom version, and any recent Windows, driver, BIOS, or Zoom updates. Find the model in MyASUS or Windows system information.
  • Note whether the crash happens only with Zoom video enabled, with a particular camera, during meetings, or when Zoom is closed. These details help reproduce and narrow the issue; they do not by themselves prove causation.
  • Check whether another app using the camera is open. Zoom recommends closing other camera-using programs when troubleshooting camera or video problems.

Troubleshoot in an order that preserves useful clues

1. Start with the stop code

Use the exact stop code and failed-module name to guide the next steps. Avoid assuming that reinstalling Zoom will fix a Windows kernel crash; the displayed details may point toward a driver, hardware, or other software issue. See Microsoft’s guide to resolving Windows blue-screen errors.

2. Update Windows and the Zenbook through official channels

ASUS recommends keeping BIOS, Windows packages, and drivers current. Identify the exact Zenbook model, then use its ASUS support page or MyASUS update functions. Do not install a BIOS intended for a different model. ASUS’s general instructions are at Windows 11/10 troubleshooting for blue-screen errors.

3. Run MyASUS diagnostics if your device offers them

MyASUS may include System Diagnosis and a blue-screen error check; availability varies by device. If a diagnostic reports a hardware error, ASUS advises contacting an ASUS repair center. A passing check is useful information, but it does not by itself identify or rule out every intermittent problem.

4. Test without external devices

Disconnect external peripherals, restart, and see whether the symptom changes. ASUS recommends this as a check, and Microsoft includes removing newly added hardware among basic stop-error steps. If disconnecting devices changes the behavior, reconnect them one at a time to identify whether a particular device is associated with the crash. 5. Use Safe Mode if crashes block diagnosis

Microsoft includes Safe Mode among basic blue-screen troubleshooting steps. If repeated crashes make normal diagnosis difficult, try it and preserve the stop-code details. If the crash continues or the next step is unclear, seek support for your exact Zenbook model rather than changing unrelated BIOS settings.

6. Apply Zoom checks only to camera or video symptoms

If Zoom’s camera freezes or is not detected, check the selected camera and settings, close other camera-using apps, verify camera permissions, and update Zoom and Windows. Zoom also describes a clean reinstall for camera troubleshooting. These steps address Zoom camera or video faults; they do not establish the cause of a Windows blue screen. See Zoom video troubleshooting and Zoom camera troubleshooting.

7. Leave Windows reset until later

ASUS places reset after earlier troubleshooting and says to back up personal files before resetting. An external drive is one possible backup destination, not a crash fix. Do not reset Windows before preserving important files and the stop-code information.

When to seek device-specific help

Contact ASUS support or an ASUS repair center if MyASUS reports a hardware error, if the crash persists after the basic checks, or if you cannot safely continue troubleshooting. Have the model, Windows build, Zoom version, recent update history, stop code, and failed-module name ready. Those details are more useful than describing the issue only as “Zoom causes a BSOD.”
