Use react-tag-input-component as a controlled React input: keep the selected tags in an array, pass that array to value, and pass its state updater to onChange. The package name matters—similarly named tag-input libraries are separate projects with different APIs.
Install the correct package
Install react-tag-input-component with the package manager used by your project:
npm i react-tag-input-component

yarn add react-tag-input-componentCheck the dependency name in your package file before using examples for another library. Search results include similarly named projects, but their APIs are not interchangeable. The react-tag-input-component package page and the hc-oss project README document this package.
Connect the input to React state
Import TagsInput and store its current tags in a state array. The component’s value is the current array of strings; onChange receives the updated array.

}In JSX, the package example spells the prop placeHolder with a capital H. The README also documents placeholder for the input prompt; use the spelling supported by the version installed in your project. name sets the input’s name attribute.
Choose how tags are added and removed
The README’s usage example says to “press enter or comma to add new tag.” Its prop table lists separators with a default of ['Enter']. If users should also be able to add tags with a comma, configure separators explicitly and check that behavior with your installed package version rather than assuming the example and listed default match.

The documented removers option controls which keys remove the last tag when the input is empty; its listed default is ['Backspace']. Configure these keys to fit the interaction you want, and verify keyboard behavior in the rendered field.
Validate, detect duplicates, and respond to removal
Use the package’s callbacks and validation hook when the input needs more than basic state synchronization:

These options cover common tag-entry rules, but they do not by themselves establish that the component provides suggestions or autocomplete. If suggestions are essential, confirm that behavior in the documentation for the exact package and version you plan to use.
Style the tags input
The README describes CSS variables applied to .rti--container for the container background and border, main color, radius, spacing, tag background, and tag-removal color. It advises using !important if the variables do not take effect. The classNames prop can also set classes for the tag and input, allowing styles to target those elements.

Check the package before adopting it
Compare tag-input libraries by exact package identity and by the behaviors your UI requires—not by similar names. Useful points to verify include separator keys, duplicate handling, validation, suggestions, keyboard removal, styling, and compatibility with your project’s React setup. The available documentation does not establish a current head-to-head quality ranking or independently verified release compatibility, so check the installed version’s own documentation and package details.
The project README identifies the package as MIT-licensed. Confirm the license metadata for the specific published version you include in your application.
