If your Logitech keyboard has stopped working, start by checking its power and connection—not by assuming the keyboard is broken. Turn it on, charge it or replace its batteries if applicable, and test it through a direct connection to another USB port. For a wireless model, also check receiver placement and pairing. The steps below help narrow the fault to the keyboard, receiver, computer, or a few keys.
First, identify what is failing
Note whether the whole keyboard is dead, it disconnects intermittently, or only certain keys fail. Also note whether it is wired or wireless, whether the batteries may be low, and whether a wireless receiver is connected through a hub, dock, extender, or KVM switch. Those details determine which checks are relevant.
Check power and the physical connection
For a wireless keyboard
- Make sure the keyboard is switched on.
- If it uses replaceable batteries, fit fresh batteries of the type specified for your exact model. If it is rechargeable, charge it; if the model has a detachable charging cable, try another suitable cable and a computer USB port.
- Check the model’s documentation for its battery type, quantity, charging connector, and indicator lights. These specifications vary by keyboard.
For a wired keyboard
- Unplug it and connect it directly to a different USB port on the computer, not through a hub.
- If it was plugged into a USB 3.0 port, try a USB 2.0 port if one is available. Logitech recommends trying a different port and testing the keyboard on another computer.
If another port or computer makes it work, the original port, USB connection path, or computer configuration may be involved. If the same fault follows the keyboard, a keyboard-side problem becomes more plausible.
Fix common wireless connection problems
- Connect the wireless receiver directly to the computer, not to a hub, extender, or KVM switch. Logitech’s guidance is explicit: “Your receiver must be plugged directly into your computer.”
- Move the keyboard closer to the receiver while testing.
- Move nearby wireless electronics away from the receiver and avoid testing with the keyboard on a metal surface.
- If the connection was lost, follow the pairing instructions for the exact keyboard and receiver family. Do not assume one receiver’s pairing procedure applies to another.
Identify the receiver before pairing or replacing it
Logitech describes several receiver families, including common 2.4 GHz receivers, Unifying, and Logi Bolt. Its receiver-identification guidance lists 2.4 GHz models C-U0010 and C-U0019, Unifying models C-U0007 and C-U0008, and Logi Bolt model C-U0021. Check the model number or logo against Logitech’s receiver identification page. The guidance does not establish that these receiver types are interchangeable, so verify compatibility with your keyboard before pairing or buying one.

Logitech says a Unifying receiver can be unpaired and paired again. Its general guidance says a non-Unifying receiver cannot be unpaired, although a replacement receiver may be paired using the appropriate utility. Use the instructions for your specific receiver rather than applying a generic reset.
Work out whether the keyboard, receiver, or computer is at fault
Testing the keyboard on another computer is a useful way to separate a computer-side problem from a keyboard-side one. For a wireless keyboard, test the receiver on another computer as well. Logitech recommends checking whether the device appears in Windows Device Manager, connecting the receiver directly, trying another port, checking Unifying software when applicable, and trying the receiver on a second computer.

If the receiver is still not recognized on that second computer, Logitech says the fault is most likely the receiver rather than the keyboard. That is a diagnostic clue, not proof; confirm the model-specific requirements or ask Logitech Support if uncertainty remains. A receiver that works elsewhere points attention back to the original computer or its USB connection.
Check computer settings and Logitech software
Logitech lists Windows USB power settings as one possible cause of wireless connection trouble, and its wired-connection guidance discusses USB selective suspend. The menu paths for these settings can vary by Windows release, so use instructions that match the version installed rather than following an older path blindly. The general guidance does not provide complete steps for every Windows, macOS, Linux, or Bluetooth configuration.

Logitech states that Connection Utility, Firmware Update Tool, Unifying Software, SetPoint, Logitech Preference Manager, and Logitech Control Center are no longer supported or maintained. It recommends Logi Options+ only for devices it supports. Check the downloads and support information for your exact keyboard model and operating system; do not assume every Logitech keyboard works with Logi Options+.
If only one or a few keys do not work
- Use compressed air or a soft brush to clear dust and debris around the affected key. Do not force the keycap or switch back into place.
- Reconnect or resync the keyboard using the model-specific instructions.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to see whether the behavior follows it.
- Check the computer’s keyboard settings, including Sticky Keys and Repeat Delay.
If the same key problem persists after these checks, Logitech advises contacting support.
