Ooor is described by its creator as a Windows desktop app for managing llama.cpp, downloading and organizing GGUF models, chatting with a local model, and using agent tools. The “1.5MB” figure refers to the reported size of Ooor’s executable—not a complete AI workstation: llama.cpp engine builds and model files are separate downloads.
What Ooor is—and what the 1.5MB figure means
In a September 24, 2026 article, Oshine Li describes Ooor as a native Windows application built with C#, WinForms, and .NET Framework 4.8. It provides a graphical way to manage parts of the llama.cpp workflow that otherwise involve downloading engine builds, organizing models, and configuring local inference. The article calls the executable 1.5MB, but does not provide an independent measurement method. That number is not the size of the installed engine, a language model, or the full set of files needed to run inference.
Li’s comparison also lists approximate installer sizes of 150MB for Ollama and 500MB or more for LM Studio alongside Ooor’s 1.5MB executable. These are the author’s figures, not a controlled, like-for-like installer comparison: the article does not establish that the values cover the same components or were measured under the same conditions. Its idle-memory figures—about 50MB for Ollama, 800MB for LM Studio, and single-digit megabytes for Ooor—also lack stated measurement conditions, so they should not be treated as benchmarks.
What Ooor is reported to do
Manage llama.cpp engines
The app is described as managing llama-server builds for CPU, CUDA, Vulkan, and SYCL. Multiple builds can reportedly coexist, letting users choose an engine build for a profile rather than replacing one build every time. The available information does not establish which builds or hardware configurations are supported by the current release.

Find and organize GGUF models
Ooor reportedly scans GGUF files in configured locations, supports external model folders, and handles multimodal projection files. Its built-in Hugging Face browser is described as supporting resumable, chunked downloads. Li says gated repositories that require authorization cannot be downloaded through this marketplace; that limitation concerns the built-in download route, not necessarily other ways to obtain a model.
Chat locally and expose an API
The application includes a streaming chat console and is described as exposing an OpenAI-compatible endpoint at 127.0.0.1:6080. That is the default port stated in Li’s article, not an independently verified setting for every release. A compatible client can use the local service, but the article does not establish compatibility with every application that supports an OpenAI-style API.

Use agent tools and profiles
The described agent tools include fetching URLs, reading and writing files, listing directories, running shell commands, and memory. Ooor also reportedly supports binding MCP servers. The author says file operations are restricted to configured roots and that write-file and shell actions require manual confirmation. A profile saves a combination of engine, model, runtime settings, and agent binding. The interface is reported to offer English and Simplified Chinese.

- Install Ooor on a Windows machine. The article describes Windows support only; it does not describe a macOS or Linux build.
- Choose and download a llama.cpp build that matches the intended runtime, such as CPU, CUDA, or Vulkan. Li provides archive examples, but they are examples rather than independently tested compatibility recommendations.
- Download a GGUF model and, where needed, its associated files. The article uses Qwen2.5-Coder-1.5B-Instruct-Q4_K_M as a starter-model example, not as a tested recommendation.
- Start the local service with the selected engine and model, then use Ooor’s chat console or connect a compatible client to the local endpoint. Check the running build for its actual address and port.
Model storage can dwarf the reported executable size. Li uses a 7GB model as an example when discussing soft deletion and avoiding a repeat download; that example is not a general model-size figure. If local storage is tight or models need to move between computers, an external SSD is an optional storage solution, not a requirement of Ooor.
Is Ooor fully offline and private?
Li says the service binds to localhost and that prompts, files, and conversation history remain on the user’s machine. Those are the author’s descriptions, not the result of an independent security or privacy audit. The same article lists a URL-fetching agent tool, which can retrieve remote content when used. “Local” therefore describes the model-serving workflow; it does not establish that every feature or user action stays offline.

Before relying on Ooor for sensitive work, review the current release and its permissions, configure file-access roots conservatively, and consider whether enabled agent tools can access material you do not want exposed or changed.

The article describes Ooor as Windows-only and says it has no browser-based web UI. It also reports that the installer may trigger an unknown-publisher warning because it uses a self-signed certificate. Since these details can change across releases, check the current installer, certificate information, supported engine builds, and model-download access before proceeding. The article’s technical and privacy claims come from Ooor’s author; they have not been independently verified here.
