In Malaysia, OPPO lists the Reno16 5G from RM2,699 and the Reno16 Pro 5G at RM3,699, a RM1,000 difference between their entry prices. The Pro’s headline distinctions are a 200MP main camera and a 144Hz refresh-rate mode for certain supported games; the Reno16 has a 50MP main camera and a listed maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Those specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or performs faster in independent testing.

OPPO Malaysia lists the Reno16 at RM2,699 for 8GB/256GB, RM2,999 for 12GB/256GB, and RM3,499 for 12GB/512GB. The Malaysia Reno16 Pro listing is RM3,699 for 12GB/256GB. Comparing the least expensive listed configurations gives a RM1,000 difference; comparing the Pro with the Reno16’s 12GB/256GB option gives a RM700 difference.

Which has the better camera?
On listed hardware, the Reno16 Pro has the higher-resolution main camera: 200MP with optical image stabilization (OIS), compared with the Reno16’s 50MP wide camera. Both models have 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto rear cameras in OPPO Malaysia’s specifications. The Pro telephoto is listed with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. For selfies, the Reno16 has a 50MP front camera, while the Pro lists a 50MP ultrawide selfie camera with a 100° field of view.

Megapixel count alone cannot determine which phone produces better photos. OPPO’s cited product information does not provide independent head-to-head image-quality testing, so the specifications support a feature comparison—not a definitive claim that the Pro takes better pictures in every situation.

How do their processors and displays differ?
OPPO lists the Reno16 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and the Pro with a MediaTek Dimensity 8550 platform in its Malaysia product material. The global announcement calls the latter the Dimensity 8550 Super Platform. These names identify different chips, but OPPO’s supplied specifications do not establish which phone is faster in real-world use; that would require comparable independent tests.

Both Malaysia models have a 6.32-inch display. OPPO lists the Reno16 at up to 120Hz. The Pro’s up-to-144Hz refresh rate is limited to certain supported gaming scenarios, rather than being a rate guaranteed across apps or general use. If gaming refresh rate is central to your choice, check that your games and settings support the mode.
What do the battery and charging figures mean?
OPPO Malaysia’s information gives both phones a 6700mAh typical capacity and 6490mAh rated capacity, with charging up to 80W. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent battery-endurance results, so they do not show how long either phone will last on a charge in your use. OPPO cautions that capacity can vary by market; a regional variant may have different battery specifications. Confirm the local SKU rather than assuming the Malaysia figures apply elsewhere.

Is the Reno16 Pro worth the extra RM1,000?
For a Malaysia buyer comparing the RM2,699 Reno16 8GB/256GB with the RM3,699 Reno16 Pro 12GB/256GB, the Pro costs RM1,000 more at OPPO’s listed prices. Consider what you would actually use before paying the difference.
