INE’s current weights are 25% assessment methodologies, 25% host and networking auditing, 35% host and network penetration testing, and 15% web application penetration testing. These percentages can guide your study time; they do not predict which questions will appear. INE announced an updated exam and training in March 2026, so check its live objectives rather than relying on older eJPTv2 notes.
Start with the current eJPT exam scope
INE describes eJPT as a hands-on, entry-level certification. Its certification page, dated June 19, 2025 and accessed October 4, 2026, lists these four weighted domains:

Weights indicate the share assigned to domains on the official page, not a promise about individual questions or a pass formula. Review INE’s live eJPT certification page before planning around older notes. INE announced on March 26, 2026 that the updated certification includes expanded reconnaissance and web application testing training, additional hands-on labs, a generative-AI-for-pentesters course, and an updated exam. That announcement does not provide a complete objective-by-objective change log, so it cannot establish exactly which details changed.
Use a repeatable study loop for each domain
INE says its learning path combines expert-led courses with practical lab time and recommends completing the path before attempting the exam. Start with the official courseware if it is available to you, and use each objective to decide what to study and practice. The following loop turns each topic into an active review task:

- Choose an objective. Use the wording on INE’s current objectives page, not just a heading in an older set of notes.
- Learn the concept. Work through the related course material and note the goal of the technique before focusing on syntax.
- Practice in an authorized lab. Follow the course lab or another environment where you have explicit permission to test.
- Record what happened. Note the command or technique, important options, expected output, and what the result means in that lab.
- Review without the walkthrough. Recreate the reasoning and explain why the next step follows from the evidence you observed.
- Revisit weak objectives. Reserve time to repeat work you could not explain or reproduce, with extra attention to the 35% penetration-testing domain.
This is a practical way to organize preparation around the official scope and hands-on learning; it is not a validated schedule or guarantee of passing.
Allocate study time without treating weights as a timetable
You can use the listed percentages as a starting point for distributing revision across domains. For example, if you set aside 20 hours specifically for domain review, a proportional split would be 5 hours for assessment methodologies, 5 for host and networking auditing, 7 for host and network penetration testing, and 3 for web application penetration testing. That is arithmetic based on INE’s listed weights, not a prescribed study duration. Adjust it to your baseline: a domain you already understand may need less time, while a weak one may need more.

INE’s learning path and an optional community-suggested lab platform serve different purposes. INE’s path is the certifier’s material and is the clearest route for matching preparation to the official objectives. Community roadmap suggestions such as TryHackMe can add practice, but they are not stated as exam requirements or endorsed by INE here. The community roadmap mentions revisiting course labs and optionally using TryHackMe rooms; current room availability, pricing, and exact objective coverage are not established here.
Make notes that teach you to interpret commands
A community repository of eJPT notes says it consolidates concepts, methodology, and practical commands from the official learning path. It also states that it is not a replacement for official courseware or active lab practice. Use notes as a reference you build and test, not as a command dump to memorize.

For each entry, capture:
- Objective and task: what you are trying to learn or discover.
- Command or technique: the exact syntax you used in the authorized lab.
- Important options: what each relevant flag or setting changes.
- Output to notice: the fields, responses, or behavior that matter.
- Interpretation: what the evidence supports and what it does not establish.
- Lab context: where you practiced and what step you took next based on the result.
When revising, cover the explanation and try to state the command’s purpose, likely output, and limitations from memory. Then verify it in your notes and lab. This makes the reference useful even when a scenario differs from the one where you first learned the technique.
Choose practice labs that reinforce, not replace, the course
For a beginner asking for extra boxes, walkthroughs, or hands-on practice, begin with the labs in the official learning path: they are tied to the certifier’s course. Once you understand the objective and can explain the course lab, optional supplemental rooms can give you another environment in which to apply your reasoning. The available community roadmap suggests TryHackMe as one such option, but this is a community suggestion rather than an official requirement.

- Use walkthroughs to get unstuck or review a concept, then redo the relevant task without following the steps line by line.
- Keep practice within platforms or systems where testing is explicitly authorized.
- After each lab, connect the technique and evidence back to a current exam objective.
- Do not assume that completing a particular number of rooms or boxes maps directly to a result on the certification exam.
Current TryHackMe room availability, pricing, and a one-to-one mapping to eJPT objectives are not established by the cited community roadmap, so check the platform directly before building a schedule around a specific room.

A community roadmap proposes a two-month plan that assumes 8–10 study hours each day and suggests revisiting course labs, with optional TryHackMe practice. That is an intensive schedule from the roadmap’s author, not an INE requirement, typical workload, or evidence-based pass timeline. Most learners should adapt the sequence to their starting knowledge and weekly availability rather than treating those daily hours as a target.

Whatever pace you choose, keep the order simple: learn an objective, practice it, document the evidence, and return to topics you cannot explain. Check the current objectives again if you pause preparation for a long period, particularly because INE announced updated exam and training content in March 2026.
