JetBrains says attackers have actively exploited—and attempted to exploit—CVE-2026-63077 against unpatched TeamCity On-Premises servers. The Australian Cyber Security Centre separately reported exploitation in Australia. The flaw allows unauthenticated remote code execution on a reachable server, so administrators should upgrade to a fixed release or apply JetBrains’ interim security plugin, then investigate for signs of activity. The cited advisories do not state how many servers were compromised or identify an attacker.
What happened with the TeamCity vulnerability?
JetBrains’ initial advisory on 27 July 2026 said all versions of TeamCity On-Premises were affected by CVE-2026-63077. An attacker able to reach a server could exploit the TeamCity agent polling protocol without authenticating. Successful exploitation could run operating-system commands with the privileges of the TeamCity server process. JetBrains said it was not aware of active exploitation when that advisory was published; that described its knowledge at the time, not what happened afterward. JetBrains’ initial advisory.
In a follow-up dated 7 August, JetBrains said it had received reports of active and attempted exploitation targeting unpatched servers since the initial announcement. On 24 August, the Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASD’s ACSC) reported observing active exploitation against TeamCity On-Premises servers within Australia. It said it had no information indicating a particular industry or sector was targeted. These reports do not establish a total number of compromised servers or attribute the activity to a named threat actor. JetBrains follow-up; ASD’s ACSC alert.
NHS England Digital’s 7 August 2026 alert classifies the issue as deserialization of untrusted data (CWE-502), gives it a CVSS v3.1 score of 9.8, and says CISA added the CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. NHS England Digital alert.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Which TeamCity systems are affected, and what fixes are available?
JetBrains says all TeamCity On-Premises versions were affected. It lists TeamCity 2025.11.7 and 2026.1.3 as fixed. TeamCity Cloud customers did not need to take action for this vulnerability because JetBrains said mitigations had already been applied; the vendor reported no evidence of Cloud exploitation through this flaw in its initial advisory. That statement applies to CVE-2026-63077, not to unrelated vulnerabilities or incidents. JetBrains advisory.
| Remediation route | What it covers | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade to TeamCity 2025.11.7 or 2026.1.3, the fixed versions listed by JetBrains | Fixes this vulnerability and provides other security updates available in the newer version. | Preferred route when an upgrade can be completed. |
| Install JetBrains’ security patch plugin | Addresses CVE-2026-63077 only; JetBrains recommends upgrading for other security updates as well. | Interim option when an immediate upgrade is not possible; available for TeamCity 2017.1 and later. |
JetBrains’ advisory says the plugin requires a server restart for TeamCity 2017.1 through 2018.1. From 2018.2, it can be enabled without restarting the server. Release instructions and supported versions can change, so check the current vendor guidance before applying a fix. JetBrains advisory.

What should I do if my TeamCity server is exposed to the internet?
- Reduce exposure while arranging mitigation. If the server is publicly reachable and you cannot patch or apply the plugin immediately, JetBrains strongly recommends temporarily restricting external access until a mitigation is in place.
- Apply a fix. Upgrade to a fixed version where possible. If that cannot be done immediately, install the security patch plugin appropriate to your TeamCity version.
- Review access and deployment. JetBrains recommends limiting the server to trusted networks, running it with minimum operating-system privileges, considering a VPN or another security layer for an internet-facing server, and placing it on a dedicated host separate from build agents.
- Check who manages the server. ASD’s ACSC advises reviewing whether internet exposure is necessary, applying patches, monitoring for suspicious activity, and contacting a third-party managed service provider or enterprise IT provider if it manages the server.
These are exposure-reduction and remediation steps; they do not determine whether an earlier compromise occurred. JetBrains guidance; ASD’s ACSC alert.

JetBrains recommends treating the following as investigation leads. Neither an individual log message nor an unexpected agent entry proves successful compromise.

- Search server logs for
com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.ConversionException. JetBrains says this may indicate an attempted or successful exploit, but the message alone does not confirm exploitation. - Look for
com.thoughtworks.xstream.security.ForbiddenClassExceptionif the server has already been patched. JetBrains says this may indicate an attempted exploit blocked by the security patch or a fixed version. - Review unauthorized build agents. Unexpected entries, especially names beginning with
scan, may indicate an attempted exploit on a server whose URL was reachable by an attacker. JetBrains says these agents can be safely removed. - Build a timeline from relevant log timestamps. The date displayed for an unauthorized agent does not necessarily show when an attempt occurred; use timestamps in the associated log messages.
Investigate these clues in the context of your server and other available records before concluding whether commands ran or systems were compromised. JetBrains investigation guidance.
