LimeSurvey has documented vulnerabilities involving SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and denial of service. The affected builds and consequences vary by flaw: recent advisories identify LimeSurvey 6.13.0 for an infinite redirect at /optin and versions before 6.15.4 for a SQL injection issue. Check your exact installed version against each advisory and apply an update appropriate to your supported release line.
What the LimeSurvey vulnerability reports describe
These records concern distinct security problems, not a single flaw affecting every LimeSurvey installation. Their version ranges, attack conditions, and impacts differ.

Together, the records show why a product name alone is not enough to determine exposure. A finding for one build or edition should not be generalized to every LimeSurvey server.
How to check and respond to a reported vulnerability
- Identify the installed build. Record the exact LimeSurvey version and edition running on the server. Compare that information with the affected-version statement in the relevant advisory, rather than relying on an approximate version or the product name alone.
- Match the advisory to the issue. For CVE-2025-41075, the cited NVD record names version 6.13.0 and access to
/optin. For CVE-2025-56421, the GitLab advisory covers versions before 6.15.4 and recommends upgrading to 6.15.4 or above. The other records concern different, specifically identified builds. - Check release support. LimeSurvey says security updates are provided free for currently supported release lines. Consult its security policy and roadmap to check support status and release-line end dates.
- Apply an appropriate supported update. Follow the project’s upgrade guidance for your installation and release line. The 6.15.4-or-above recommendation applies to the cited SQL injection advisory; it should not be treated as a universal latest-version statement or as guidance for every historical issue.
- Recheck the resulting build and advisories. Confirm the update completed and compare the resulting version with current project release information and applicable advisories. The security-policy page says it does not publish security advisories there, so use vulnerability databases and release information as well.
What these reports do—and do not—say about server exposure
The reported consequences range from resource exhaustion through repeated redirects to possible disclosure of sensitive database information and script execution against administrators. Whether a particular installation is affected depends on its build and the vulnerability’s stated conditions.

The records summarized here do not provide a count of exposed LimeSurvey servers or evidence that a particular live installation has been compromised. They are not a complete inventory of LimeSurvey vulnerabilities, a penetration test, or a basis for concluding that every server is vulnerable. Operators should assess their own version and deployment against the relevant current advisory.
