Choose by hardware and workflow, not by a claim of better accuracy. QuestLHSync is the fit if you have SteamVR 2.0 base stations, a supported Quest headset, and a headset and PC on the same local network: it uses the Quest’s cameras to observe Lighthouse flashes. Space Calibrator is the more flexible fit for the mixed-device combinations it lists, or if you want continuous calibration with a tracker mounted on your headset. Neither method should be run alongside another tool correcting Lighthouse device poses.
Check compatibility before choosing
Start with your headset, base-station generation, SteamVR devices, and network. The two programs solve a similar alignment problem, but they do not use the same calibration signal or impose the same requirements.

These compatibility descriptions come from project documentation and a store listing, not independent certification. QuestLHSync’s stated compatibility with Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Steam Frame should not be read as verified tracking performance on those headsets.
How the calibration methods differ
QuestLHSync: camera observations of base-station flashes
QuestLHSync uses the Quest’s cameras to locate Lighthouse base-station flashes and align the tracking spaces. That makes it distinct from a paired-device calibration routine: the headset camera is the source of the observations, rather than a controller and tracker being moved together. Its project documentation says the alignment continues while playing.

The project README says first acquisition takes about half a minute. It advises looking around so the cameras can see both stations, and suggests wearing a tracker or holding a controller while the stations are first identified. Showing a third station is recommended: the project says it can use headset gravity to level its reference frame when three stations are visible. With two visible stations, the project says device accelerometers level it as the devices move. These are the project’s setup guidance and explanation, not independently measured accuracy results.
Space Calibrator: align two devices, or add a headset-mounted tracker
In the upstream OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator standard workflow, select a reference-space device and a target-space device, hold them together so they do not slip, then move and rotate them slowly through varied orientations. The software saves a profile and applies it as devices turn on. Space Calibrator’s Steam listing also describes a continuous mode using a tracker attached to the headset.

The upstream README recommends recalibrating after changes to the play space and says slow or very slow modes can reduce initial error in wireless setups. Those instructions are for upstream OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator; do not assume every fork has identical controls or behavior.
When each one makes sense
Choose QuestLHSync when its specific requirements match
- You have SteamVR 2.0 base stations and at least one Lighthouse device you can power on.
- Your headset is one of the models listed by the project, while accounting for the README’s tested-versus-untried distinction.
- Your Quest and Windows PC can communicate over the same local network.
- You want camera-based observation rather than a headset-mounted tracker for continuous calibration.
Choose Space Calibrator when its listed device combinations and workflow fit
- You are combining one of the mixed-device setups described by its Steam listing, such as full-body trackers or Index controllers with Quest/Pico, or Vive Ultimate Trackers with a SteamVR headset.
- You prefer the standard paired-device calibration procedure, or can mount a compatible tracker on the headset for continuous mode.
- You want a free-to-play Steam listing for Windows 10/11 and compatible SteamVR devices.
Space Calibrator’s listing is broader about device combinations, but it does not establish that every headset, tracker, or base-station generation works. Confirm the exact combination rather than inferring support from a general category.

Do not run both pose-correction tools together
QuestLHSync explicitly warns users to turn off Space Calibrator, OpenVR-SpaceSync, and any other software that moves Lighthouse devices. As the QuestLHSync README puts it, “Two tools correcting the same devices fight each other.” Pick one pose-correction method at a time; running both can make alignment unstable rather than combining their benefits.
Drift, accuracy, and what the evidence can establish
The upstream OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator README warns that inside-out and Lighthouse tracking can drift after extensive movement around a room, and that wireless Quest use may require recalibration. Changes to the physical space are another reason its README advises recalibrating.

QuestLHSync describes its own correction approach, but the available project and listing documentation does not provide a controlled head-to-head accuracy test or independent measurements of relative stability. There is therefore no evidence here to call either method more accurate overall. Treat project-stated features and compatibility as documentation, not as a comparative benchmark.

QuestLHSync’s README says its headset-side service responds to requests from anyone on the local network without authentication. It sends bright-spot positions derived from the cameras, camera calibration, and headset serial number, model, and firmware; the README says it does not send camera images. Use it only on a network where that local-network exposure is acceptable.
