SecurityWeek described it as an Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) product intended to help users access applications across cloud and on-premises environments.
What was IBM Cloud Identity Connect?
In a report published June 13, 2017, SecurityWeek described IBM Cloud Identity Connect as a new IBM Security IDaaS product. Its central function was single sign-on (SSO): users could access popular cloud applications from any device, with access spanning cloud and on-premises environments.
IBM’s stated aim, as reported by SecurityWeek, was to address the management and security challenges organizations face when people use multiple identities in hybrid-cloud environments. The announcement framed the service as a way to make application access easier to manage while supporting organizations moving toward cloud services.
What did the service do?
- Provided single sign-on: It was presented as one access point for popular cloud applications rather than requiring a separate sign-in for each one.
- Covered hybrid environments: The announcement described access across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Supported access from any device: That was part of the product description in the 2017 report; the article did not specify supported device models or technical requirements.
The report did not provide application-by-application coverage, deployment instructions, or technical integration details, so it does not establish how a particular organization would connect its applications.
