Aiphone’s October 2024 advisories confirm vulnerabilities in its networked IX and IXG intercom systems, but they do not say attackers can unlock doors. The notices describe possible access to product data and, for IXG, loss of some functions. Owners should identify the exact equipment and firmware, check the relevant advisory threshold, and follow Aiphone’s firmware-update instructions.
Do the advisories say hackers can open doors?
No. Aiphone’s October 16, 2024 notices for the IX and IXG systems say a third party with network access could read, alter, delete, or manipulate product data. The IXG notice also describes possible leakage of stored data or loss of some product functions. Neither accessible notice documents an attacker operating door release or unlocking a door. Aiphone’s security advisory index lists the notices, but the title claim that hackers can open doors is not established by them.
This distinction matters: a vulnerability affecting a networked intercom is a legitimate security concern, but it is not evidence by itself that an attacker can release a lock. The door-opening effect remains unverified in these advisories.
Which Aiphone systems and vulnerabilities are covered?
Aiphone’s advisory index lists IX and IXG notices dated October 16, 2024, and a separate GT entrance-station notice dated November 10, 2022. The details below concern only the accessible IX and IXG advisories; the index entry alone does not establish the GT notice’s affected models or remedy.

IX System
Aiphone’s IX notice, published October 16 and updated October 18, 2024, covers its IP Network Audio-Video Intercom IX System, which the company says has been sold since December 2013. Listed equipment includes master stations, video door stations, door stations, handset substations, a multipurpose adaptor, and IX Support Tool.
The notice has different affected-version thresholds depending on the CVE and product. For CVE-2024-31408 and CVE-2024-39290, specified IX-DV/IX-DVF variants, IX-SSA variants, IX-BU, and IX-DU are affected before version 7.11; other listed target products are affected before 7.10. IX Support Tool is excluded from this pair. For CVE-2024-45837, specified IX-MV7 stations are affected before 7.31, IX Support Tool before 10.3.0.0, and other target products before 7.30. Consult the IX advisory and its product-by-product table for the exact model and countermeasure version.

IXG System
The IXG notice covers Aiphone’s IP-based residential system, sold since May 2020. Listed equipment includes IXG-2C7 and IXG-2C7-L tenant stations; IXG-DM7, IXG-DM7-HID, IXG-DM7-HIDA, and IXG-DM7-10K entrance stations; IXG-MK guard station; IXGW-GW and IXGW-TGW gateway adaptors; IXGW-LC lift-control adaptor; and IXG Support Tool.
For CVE-2024-31408 and CVE-2024-39290, the tenant stations and gateway adaptors are affected before 3.01, while the listed entrance and guard stations and lift adaptor are affected before 3.00. For CVE-2024-47142, IXG-2C7 and IXG-2C7-L are affected before 2.03. For CVE-2024-45837, listed product thresholds are before 3.01 or 3.00, depending on component, and IXG Support Tool is affected before 5.0.2.0. These are affected-version thresholds, not a single universal IXG update number; use the IXG advisory’s model-specific table to identify the applicable countermeasure version.

What should owners do?
- Identify each device. Record the model and installed firmware for relevant stations, adaptors, and support tools. A system can contain multiple product types with different thresholds.
- Match model and version to the advisory. Check the exact product row and CVE-specific threshold in the IX or IXG notice. Do not infer exposure from a system-family name or one version number alone.
- Apply Aiphone’s stated remedy. The notices direct users to obtain countermeasure firmware through Aiphone’s Software and Documents channel and update the target product. Aiphone’s support page provides technical information and regional contact routes.
- Ask for help if identification or updating is unclear. Contact Aiphone, a regional distributor, or a qualified installer if you cannot identify the hardware, controller, or firmware, or need assistance applying the update.
The advisories specify firmware updates as the remedy. They do not recommend a factory reset, a consumer network-security device, or replacing the intercom as a substitute.

Aiphone said the attack required “highly specialized technology” and that, as of its October 2024 notices, “there have been no reports of damage caused by this attack since the launch of this product.” That is the vendor’s statement at the time, not a current guarantee that the systems are safe or that no later incidents have occurred. The notices do not provide a named statistic or establish current exploit activity.

Aiphone’s security advisory index and its product security policy are the appropriate starting points for security information. Buying replacement hardware is not the vendor-stated fix; owners should first verify their installed models and follow the firmware guidance.
