To keep Windows 11’s Mouse indicator on screen until you dismiss it, open Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch > Mouse indicator and turn on Keep indicator visible until dismissed. The standard Mouse indicator toggle must also be on. The option is reported for Windows 11 Experimental 26H2 Insider builds; it is not established as available on every Windows 11 PC.
Turn persistent Mouse indicator mode on or off
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Select Accessibility, then Mouse pointer and touch.
- Expand Mouse indicator.
- Turn on Mouse indicator if it is off.
- Turn Keep indicator visible until dismissed on to enable persistent mode, or off to disable it.
With persistent mode on, the indicator stays visible until you dismiss it. The third-party Windows 11 Forum tutorial documents Win + Ctrl + Shift + M to show or dismiss the persistent indicator; it also lists Esc and a click or tap as dismissal methods. What to do if the setting is missing
Check your Windows build and Insider channel before troubleshooting the Settings path. Brink’s Windows 11 Forum tutorial says the option appeared starting with build 26340.9233, identified there as Experimental 26H2 for Insiders. That tutorial says build 26340.9502 added a choice between single- and double-Ctrl activation methods. These are third-party tutorial claims, not confirmation that the feature is available in a general-release Windows 11 build.
Microsoft’s September 8, 2026 announcement said it was releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview builds to the Beta and Experimental channels; the Experimental build listed was 26340.9354. Microsoft Learn identifies 26340.9354 as an Experimental preview released that date. The reviewed Microsoft release notes do not mention this Mouse indicator option, so they establish the preview context, not general availability of the feature. If the toggle is absent, the feature may not be available on your build. Third-party instructions mention using ViVeTool to enable hidden feature flags, but that is an experimental workaround, and the cited Microsoft sources do not establish that it works across builds. Do not treat it as a normal Settings procedure.
Registry values listed by the tutorial
The Windows 11 Forum tutorial also describes a registry alternative under HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelCursors, using the DWORD FindMyMousePersistent. The values below are reported by that third-party tutorial and are not independently confirmed by Microsoft documentation:

The tutorial says to sign out and back in, or restart, after applying a registry file. Its forum discussion notes a copy-and-paste error in surrounding explanatory text while saying the registry file itself had the corrected value. Prefer the Settings controls when available; before importing a registry file, verify its contents and understand the change.
